So mass death will come to the west? Everyone says the real death rates are at least 20 fold the CCP numbers...

That makes a lot more sense than the wild paranoia of a young
kid.
..but I LOVE wild paranoia..!!

'Course,.. I don't like wild paranoia, at all, in real life, but for dramatic purposes it's very much preferred as it makes, rather often, for better stories.

Reality will most probably be MUCH more bland than our delirious "inner projections" on the world, but reality also tends to actually be more interesting in detail than our "wild paranoias", which eventually makes our entertaining fictions more interesting.

The Holy Grail of fiction, especially speculative adventure thriller fiction, is a fiction that is indistinguishable from reality,.. unless looked at from "just the right angle", where we can see scenes from our most wild paranoia being played out, while not disturbing the "real world" except in ways that can be easily explained away as trivial coincidence.

It's very easy for us mere mortals to fall into insisting that our wishes be granted. That we're owed them. That they OUGHT to be real.

Consider what you ask for, mere mortals, before you ask the Gods for "favors".

Uh,.. if the death rate is 20 times that reported, that would make it around (20 x 2.5% = x%) 50%, which I think is a little crazy.

But then, what do you consider "mass death"? Does 2.5% of everyone infected, which isn't quite 2.5% of the planetary population, sound "mass-y" enough?

** 25-Feb-2020 World View: Vitamin C and Coronavirus

Lol! If you're right, this would be quite a dramatic discovery. A
lot of companies are trying to develop therapeutic drugs for
coronavirus, and the drug Ramdesevir by Gilead is being called the
most promising so far.

So imagine how many red faces there will be if it turns out that the
best coronavirus therapy is Vitamin C?

I do admit that the source I quoted yesterday may be a bit "out there", but I thought it brought up two rather interesting points.

1. The mortality rate outside of China is far below that in China.
2. The authorities in Wuhan/Hubei may have taken action in response to SARS that weakened the defenses of the local population to be able to fight off Covid-19 (btw, I would now like to call it WuHu Flu, as that is catchy and gets the origination areas named).

As John points out, it may be that there is low mortality outside of China due to the fact that it has just arrived. Could be true. It could also be that they engaged in traditional Chinese cures rather than hospital type medicine when they got sick. We will find out shortly.

But then there is such a dearth of information as to what actually happened, that we are all left rather open to conjecture. When I first started reading about some Chinese scientist who was working at the Canadian CDC being tagged as an agent who was stealing samples for the Chinese government, I thought that was pretty "out there" and dismissed it.

Then we started to see things on the Chinese CDC which was literally only a couple of hundred yards from the supposed origin point Food Market. Then there were the articles on the Chinese CDC experimenting with Bats and so on. Initially this was pretty weird too.

But John is very good at staying rational and condensing all of the information, and making rational sense out of it. And that is why I appreciate his work and insights.

Like John, I also use massive quantities of Vitamin C on a daily basis. I take 6-8 Grams per day. That's 6000-8000mg.

I started doing this after reading a book by Linus Pauling on Vitamin C. The title was "How to Live Longer and Feel Better". Linus Pauling was a renowned chemist, the Albert Einstein of his field. You can get a copy of this book for about $5.

He pointed out all of the reasons for taking large amounts of Vitamin C. He also got into why the medical field doesn't want you to do this, and it basically came down to "they want you to visit the doctor, need medical care, and take over the counter drugs - this generates a lot of income for them".

Pauling's father died in his 30's. Linus lived well into his 90s and was healthy and mentally active up until the very end.

Since I have been taking the large doses, I don't get colds but maybe once every 2-3 years. I also don't get the flu every year like most people.

One word of advice here - it works best as a PREVENTIVE action. Once you get sick, it can reduce the severity, but there I would recommend Zinc melts as well.

Today's WHO press conference was a pathetic joke and demonstrates how totally useless Dr Bruce Aylward is. He spent 2 hrs gushing about how friggen awesome China is and proved you can speak thousands of words while saying next to nothing useful. The YouTube comments nail it. These NGO staff have the professional job of living off donations and tax dollars, flying around the world attending conferences and bloviating, yet accomplishing absolutely nothing.
