The average South Korean dislikes mainland Chinese. They are looked at as uncouth and obnoxious. I grew up in South Korea.

I went to the grocery store last night and everything Is going up. More expensive. Stocked up on meat and canned goods yesterday. The ole mighty dollar is not going to go very far. Food prices going UP especially with supply chain being halted.

People are so terrified of this virus. Even if they open up the entire country next week, the damage has been done, and people aren't going to consume junk like they used to. The US hasn't had an economy for a long time, and the fluff services economy we lived on for the past 20 years is gone.

The crisis isn't here yet, people don't get that, they think only about the virus and when can they go back to work. They don't have a clue the problems have hardly begun, our system as we know it is imploding. Hyper-inflation is right behind. Prepare! A good time to go plant based because anything meat will be done!

First China , for obvious reasons, will emerge as THE winner. Then Sweden , the only country that didn't went into lockdown will emerge on second place. Then Germany as they organise the lockdown,supplies and tests the best. The US will do what it do best , start a war and submerge the world with even more dollars.

First, we all have to admit that nothing is “normal” any more. Starting from that premise, here’s what I think, based on observations and familiarity, while also admitting I could be wrong (and way off base).

* You lived in Seoul for many years, so you have a feel for what the South Korean people really want. What do the people really want?

They want to continue making money. They dislike Trump very much and they have been moving toward socialist tendencies for a while now. Samsung alone is 25% of their GDP and so they’re already a near fascist state.

* How is such a confederation possible without a North-South war? Who would govern the confederation?

Why is war necessary for them to form a confederation of soared? In the confederation they would remain separate, but share technology and resources with oversight. They need each other.

* At what point in your scenario would the America troops withdraw, dismantling the anti-missile defense systems?

If things keep going the way they are, I could see us voluntarily withdrawing “for our greater good” (bring our troops home mentality that is growing). Hopefully Trump won’t fall for it.

* You're drawing on historical analogies to describe "a blocking force against Japan and/or Taiwan." How would that work? Would Korean troops be involved against Japan or Taiwan?

I don’t think Korea would have to invade. All they would need to do is pose the threat of invasion or nuclear attack.

* Why would South Korea side with China against Taiwan?

Much of sKorea’s production capabilities are based in China now. They don’t want to lose it. The Koreans view the Chinese as Chinese and do not recognize much of a difference between China and Taiwan other than location.

Koreans in general view the Japanese as the greater enemy. I know many Chinese/Koreans that live In Korea. A close friend of mine is married to one and he was telling me a few days ago that on the new Permanent Resident ID cards provided to Taiwanese Koreans (like his wife), the cards now read China (Taiwan) for National Origin. So we are already seeing signs that Korea is more closely aligning themselves with China.

What I have learned from my Filipino wife is that Americans aren't very good racists and need to takes lessons from Asia where they all hate one another. As my wife put it, "we don't even like people on the other side of the same island". Interestingly, Americans (as individuals as least) aren't disliked. At least if you're white.

** 28-Apr-2020 World View: Increased hostility to American citizens in China

I received the following from a web site reader:

This is the standard playbook for the CCP -- incite xenophobia and
hatred toward citizens of a country as a foreign policy tool. If the
pattern used with Japan is repeated with Americans, then we can expect
the CCP to incite riots and violence toward American businesses and
targets within China.

The next step could be some "small" Chinese military attack to teach
us a lesson. That could be the trigger that leads to a major war.

The CCP is becoming increasingly desperate and is flailing around in
all directions.

The CCP is being blamed for inflicting Covid-19 on every country in
the world. They could have contained the spread right at the
beginning, but instead chose to censor all news and imprison anyone
who reported what was going on. Then they chose to hide the community
spread from the world, and even used their WHO puppets to vouch for
their lies. These criminal actions by the CCP are now believed by
almost everyone.

As I always point out, the CCP criminals are the stupidest bunch of
thugs in the world. Every decision they take makes things worse, but
this strategy of hiding the communal spread of the Wuhan Coronavirus,
and then seeding every country in the world with the pandemic, has got
to be the stupidest policy of any government in world history.

Hitler's invasion of Russia was incredibly stupid, but not nearly as
stupid as the CCP purposely inflicting the virus on the entire world.

So now the clumsy, bumbling, vicious, iniquitous CCP thugs are
desperately looking for a way to shift the blame to the US, and
they're expelling US citizens from China. Nobody believes a word that
the mealy-mouthed CCP thugs are saying any more.

The CCP thugs are also being heavily criticized for their policies in
Hong Kong. Also, the CCP is facing a major crisis if Kim Jong-un dies
or is incapacitated. And China is overdue for its next massive
anti-government rebellion.

Unfortunately, this is all very bad news, because these are further
steps on the path to world war. As my article yesterday showed,
American hostility to China has been growing steadily since Xi Jinping
came to power, and has shot up enormously because of the US-China
trade dispute and the Wuhan Coronavirus situation. Chinese hostility
to America is also shooting up enormously.

These two trend lines are continuing to grow, and will not be
reversed. This will not end well.

Wait a minute.

Isn't it Filipina wife?

At this point it seems to me that the WuHu flu came out of some Chinese attempt to find a cure for HIV/AIDS. This would fit into the Chinese arrogance that is written about here. They may have pushed ahead without proper safety protocols in a rush to get a Chinese Nobel prize, and the whole thing backfired when one of the lab workers got infected and then spread the virus.

The next point, and this is from a rather military point of view, is that when you have a problem, you try to make sure that everyone else has it too. So if the Chinese economy and even military were degraded, they would want everyone else to have the same problem too. This would explain the domestic lockdowns while still allowing international flights out of WuHu.

** 28-Apr-2020 World View: Hundreds of Iranians poison themselves with ethanol to cure coronavirus

Iran's Health Ministry on state TV is reporting that over 5,000 people
have been poisoned by taking methanol alcohol between February 20 and
April 7, falsely believing that it cures Wuhan Coronavirus sickness.
Over 700 have been killed by drinking methanol, and about 90 people
have lost their eyesight or are suffering eye damage from the alcohol
poisoning.

Methanol cannot be smelled or tasted in drinks. It causes delayed
organ and brain damage. Symptoms include chest pain, nausea,
hyperventilation, blindness and even coma.

Iran mandates that manufacturers of toxic methanol must add an
artificial color to their products so the public can tell it apart
from ethanol, which is far less toxic.

The part of this story that really blew my mind is that bootleggers in
Iran have found a way around that problem. They add a little bleach
to the colored methanol, to mask the color. So now, Iranians are
drinking toxic methanol mixed in with a bit of toxic bleach. Yuk.
Iran is one screwed up country.

Iran is one of the hardest hit countries in the world from Covid-19.
That's because they didn't want to insult their Chinese masters by
shutting down travel from China, at a time when many other countries
were doing so. Iran has 92,500 confirmed cases and almost 6,000
deaths.

The Chinese probably had a long term plan for world domination, but the current situation has thrown a real monkey wrench into it. As other realize their ridiculous over dependence on China as source for strategic materials/products, they will begin to restart their lost domestic capabilities. This will reduce Chinese power over them.

And of course the world blaming the Chinese for this mess (as they should) will cause the Chinese to throw their long term plans out and focus on current "insults". As with any prideful person/entity, their long term plans go out the window as any blow to their ego is met with a temper tantrum.

This makes the probability of someone starting a conflict all that much higher.
