There is more serfdom in England now than at any time since the Conquest. I speak of what passes under my daily eyes when I say, that those who labour can as little choose or change their masters now, as when they were born thralls. There are great bodies of the working classes of this country nearer the condition of brutes than they have been at any time since the Conquest.

Former coworker was born in China in the late 50s and works in state government in the US. She was disgusted with the corruption and started filing grievances. She told me that during one of the grievance meetings she told the management that this place is more corrupt than Communist China. Judging from the tone of her voice, she wasn't joking, she in fact seemed quite angry. I asked her what the management said in reponse to her comment. She said they laughed. She regrets coming to the US.

There is certainly plenty of corruption, but which particular piece you want to discuss on a given day gets you politically identified (or misidentified) as being on a "side". And it also depends on what you call corrupt.

Myself, I think corruption is any usage of power or position in any form to enrich oneself at the expense of the group or mission you have pledged to support (by taking on the task at which you are supposed to be laboring), or to hide or otherwise mismanage failings of that group or mission or prevent persons whom you or your group has injured from seeking redress. Therefore, I see corruption everywhere. Churches, business, government, media and individuals are generally corrupt under that definition.

I doubt seriously that the US is more corrupt than the other countries mentioned, we do seem to love to wallow in news of how awful we are. In many places reporting on corruption at all, slanted or not, is a jail sentence at the least.

Projecting growth trends tends to ignore limits. The central banks are heading for a total collapse of their infrastructure, and the impact when they fall will shake the world.

Socialism has become so muddled that I have to ask which socialism? The socialism of business, the socialism of the wealthy or the socialism of poverty? The notion that the public will destroy the republic by voting themselves benefits from the public purse has gone by the wayside, the vote doesn't reflect that at all, the strongest votes against deficits and tax increases come from the states getting the most federal money in relation to what they sent to washington.

Much of that is military of course, but not all by any means. That WalMart holds classes to get their workers on food stamps perplexes me, how does my paying for food stamps really equate to cheaper prices? It's simply gaming the system by letting the food stamp line cross the line they pay their workers, this limited hour business is NOT all about health care. Much is about making sure taxpayers pick up many of the essentials. If they didn't, WalMart would have to pay more.

I just went through another consolidation and ruthless is lightyears of separation to that word of what I seen and how people are under stress act.
It was and is another socialist mental illness study that was witnesed with words and actions that are just another typical case study. Over four decades I have watched this effect coming on other segments. I seen it first hand in 1978 and later laws got passed to the financial debauchery. It was bad enough to watch our so called government what was done on another issue to the people in our area alone. The old men actually had pity on the nation and lamented what was coming. It burned a impression in me on the action of men of the land who took it the Lords view and acepted what was to come as they struggled to move all. I see it every day, they do not it is that plain and simple. The second trend already years ago is for developed markets to reassess their supply chains to enable greater agility by returning to source more locally and in the process becoming green. On balance the trend is still towards outsourcing to lower cost countries. Stock up, you are going to need it in my opinion alone. The seal in the forehead is nothing compared to the ones with blindness as it is with those who have one on it. Its coming and already is here, so yes save as much as possible since they are not even begun to be done with Vanilla.
