White House cuts Audrey Tang's video after Taiwan map appears

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The video feed of Taiwan’s digital minister, Audrey Tang, was cut while she was giving a presentation at the Summit for Democracy last week.

Tang was sharing a color-coded map that showed Taiwan in a different color to China, which according to inside sources, caused concern with White House officials. Her video feed was allegedly cut, leaving only audio, because of the sensitivity surrounding the so-called “one China policy” per a Reuters report.

Differentiating Taiwan and China so vividly during a U.S.-hosted conference may have been interpreted as going against Washington's version of the “one-China" policy. The U.S. approach is to not take a clear stance on whether or not Taiwan is actually a part of China.

Despite the timely cutout — as the map was being shared — the State Department denied it had anything to do with politics. They said technical "confusion" over screen-sharing hampered Tang's video, saying the dropout was an "an honest mistake."

The fuss surrounded a map that ranked the world by openness on civil rights. Unsurprisingly, Taiwan and China were different colors.

As the only regional entity categorized as "open,” Taiwan was coded green. While there were some other mid-range colors (or "repressed," "obstructed", etc.), China was red and labeled "closed."

Later when the moderator came back to Tang, only her voice was heard with the captioned "Minister Audrey Tang Taiwan" below. Soon a disclaimer appeared: "Any opinions expressed by individuals on this panel are those of the individual, and do not necessarily reflect the views of the United States government."

Sources reveal a mini diplomatic scuffle played out behind the scenes, involving a flurry of emails whirring between U.S. government departments and Taiwan’s government too. Washington complained to Taipei about the visualization while Taiwan was apparently incensed Tang’s video was deliberately shut off.
This doesn't bode well for Taiwan.

This is what happens when you elect a douche bag.

We didn't elect him. And yes, Taiwan is screwed.

So now we've seen kids playing "chicken" in the road. Is that really what you were so excited about?

The Americans didn't back down and the Russians didn't shoot. The Russians didn't have the balls to shoot. If the Russians had opened fire, none of them would have lived to see their fat babushka single mothers in Moscow again. This is the video that BP was bragging about?! Show me video of the Russians killing American soldiers, and you will have something.

Why are people so butthurt about being honest about what Russia is, and isn't?
Yes, let's be honest about Russia, shall we?

Russia is a shit hole run by uncouth gangsters with fake university degrees ho steal everything. Putin and his cronies have constructed large Las Vegas style palaces that are so tacky they would embarrass Elvis . And they all have stripper poles installed in all of their palaces. Classy. Putin wears million dollar watches while Russia's rural medical system resembles clinics in the Congo. Look up the wooden planks and plastic chairs used in 2018 for extra beds in large regional hospitals because Putin has stolen most of the medical funds. Have you ever been in a hospital in Russia? I have!!! And no, the exclusive clinics in Moscow don't count!

Yes! Let's be honest about Russia!

Russia has some of the worst roads in the world. have you driven on them? I have.

Russian elderly eat a piece of bread and a watery soup for meals because their pensions are so meager. Yet Putin and his cronies eat gourmet meals every night. I don't care if their grandparents starved during the war, those teary eyed stories they like to tell on television mean nothing, the elderly in Russia starve now.

Yes! Let's be honest about Russia!!!!

Why don't you move there and live there? You would be crying to go home in an hour if you saw how the average Russian lived. Do you want your mother to get medical treatment in a Russian hospital! Do you!!! Do you!!!

Don't forget that if a local officila lieks your house, your land, or your woman, he will take them and if you complain, you will vanish!!!!!

Yes! Let's be honest about Russia!

The Russian population struck by 900,000 last year. There are more grandmothers than teenagers in Russia today, a global first.

You know nothing. nothing. Stop lecturing people who have lived there and have family who lived there that are not Putin's gangsters.

Yes! Let's be honest about Russia!Yes!

The question is: when China takes Taiwan, do they calculate that the United States won't get involved, or decide that it's going to be war with us either way, and it's best to hit first. A lot of people are looking at Biden, and how badly things have fallen apart just in the last year. The disaster in Afghanistan likely doesn't give Taiwan much confidence that we'll do anything.

No one's in the mood for another conflict, not when we all too often consider our enemies to be the political opposition. And China's window is shrinking. I remember the report stating that China's population has already fallen in 2020, though this was taken down soon afterward. Their fertility rate is 1.3 and continuing to shrink, faster than ours is.

For an historical example, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor when they did because they knew the U.S. could massively outproduce them, and were gearing up for war. In 1941, they were as strong as they were ever going to be in respect to us. Hitler invaded the Soviet Union in 1941 for a similar reason, apart from a desperate need for oil.

So my conclusion: China will attack whenever they feel their backs are against the wall.

America=bad
Russia=good.
That's pure fantasy. If Russia could have taken us out in WW2, they would have. They didn't even try. You want people here to explain simple past history to you. I'll try to make it simple as I can for an obnoxious teenager like you.

Korea was a draw. Or maybe it was a loss, for the North Koreans. Last I looked, South Korea was still there and had a standard of living a thousand times greater than communist North Korea. I wonder if the North Koreans feel like they won the war?

Vietnam was a defeat, mostly for the South Vietnamese people. They are still trying crawl out of the communist hole dug in the 1970s. When I was there in 2019, the Vietnamese liked Americans.

The Middle East is a disaster, but your beloved Russia has added to the chaos at every turn. Putin funnels as many guns into the ME as he funnels refugees into the West, and you give him a free pass. In case you haven't noticed, Russia has been up to its eyeballs in the ME for decades. I don't see the Arabs or Afghans trying to immigrate to Russia, do you?

The Russians invaded Afghanistan and left it in complete ruins. At least America tried to rebuild it. Biden left it in a mess. I bet they didn't teach you about how the Russians destroyed everything and left nothing behind but an even bigger mess.

What is it that you liked about the Soviet Union: the low standard of living or the freedom of speech?

I don't believe for a second that you are American. You're either a Russian troll or an angry immigrant living in Canada or the US. I have met more than a few Serbs, Mexicans, or Russians that would do anything for their countries except live there. You love to crap on America, but I don't see people lining up to immigrate to your country. You live here, right? If you love Russia, then by all means, move to Russia. No one will miss you.

No wonder Navigator is preparing for defeat. The average poster on this board has already given up. Not me, boys. Not me.
What's your point in any of this? We have, even by other posters admission, far more disgusting leaders than VP, nor are the russians run by parasites including the dual citizenship and anti-american pols that promote all degeneracy in our nation. Think outside the box.

I am American, and furthermore am christian, but this country nor these people are run by anything that loves Jesus Christ. While all nations have their issues, we don't even pretend anymore, the culture is anti-christ, and it's not even close. So start telling the truth and quit assuming people love this country like we all used to; all it has is economic advantages at this point, and that little is going away as the vax passport and mark types are already attempting to be installed in many locations.

I am NOT preparing for defeat. Quite to the contrary. I believe that China and its allies will suffer complete defeat in WW3.

What I AM preparing for is what conditions will be like on the Homefront (USA) during WW3. This includes loss of utilities, difficulty with food supply chain, compulsory military and civilian service (btw, you can be forced to do factory work), financial system implosion, and the demise of the global supply chain.

The vast majority take it for granted that tomorrow will be just like yesterday or today. That is NOT the case. Shock and panic will accompany the dramatic change in conditions once things start.

For those of us needing to be in a better location before it's too late... Please speculate on when we can know for sure WW3 is going to happen, so we can get out of dodge.
For me, it's a coping mechanism to discount the possibility of war, collapse, famine, pestilence anarchy,,..all while preparing for it. Therefore my belief in this future scenario is also filled with doubt, which is hope that it doesn't happen. Odds are increasing quickly of war and I'm worried I'll run out of time to get to a better location. Maybe need to just pack up the wagon and run but it would be nice to have some time.

You've stated a Taiwan invasion island hopping scenario, which took about a year before we were dragged in. April commencement leaves us ample time over the summer to pack up and move to a higher survival chance location.

Unless we stumble into WW3 by some other incident somewhere, commencement of the Taiwan invasion then gives us a year at most. How close is this to what you see happening? Thanks
