In peacetime, our government was more corrupt and egotistic than Russia's. But since Russia appears to be entering a crisis war earlier than we are, the equation is now rapidly changing.

Um, no. You obviously don't know what you're talking about here. While there certainly is corruption in the US government, it is nothing like Russia where you have to support the government to avoid being murdered. The crisis in Russia isn't the people, it's Putin and his ego.

The article with the people taped to poles dated to the beginning of the war when people were breaking curfew and looting. Also, at that time, several teams from the Wagner group killed while wearing civilian clothes and actively trying to hunt down and kill President Zelensky. You are comparing photos of blown apart dead Russian soldiers (with body armor marked with 'Z' )with the crimes Bucha, where civilians were gang raped, tortured, and murdered in the hundreds (now it looks like in could be over a thousand people). In what way do the things you post show any kind of balance between Russia and Ukraine? They Russians are worse by a million miles. Why yes, I have learned. It isn't the Russian people calling for the invasion of Ukraine. Indeed, while it's hard to tell since there is effectively no independent media in Russia, there doesn't look to be that much support at all and what there is will probably drop as sanctions take a bigger and bigger bite. When people see that their GDP has dropped 15%+ while inflation is 20%+, I doubt that a useless war is what they'll be looking for.
