Good alternate viewpoint and counterweight against Putin

Here is a good article with a different perspective that I have not heard any where else. Among other things he points out that the gas pipelines going from Africa to Europe will remove a lot of Europe's need for Gazprom/Russian energy supplies. Also a strong note on morale and other obligations of the Russian army. While I don't think Putin is thinking of these things they may in fact be a long term counterweight against him. Worth the read.
