Russia at the UN Security Council called for a UN Security Council Presidential statement calling for:
1. Immediate end of all violence in Ukraine, including the type of violence committed by Kiev government earlier on May 2nd, 2014. Russia insisted that when the Geneva agreement was signed an end to all violence in Ukraine by all the parties to the agreement, literally meant what was written, including an end to all violence by the Kiev government, the Kiev government being one of the parties that signed the Geneva agreement.
2. Comprehensive implementation of all of the Geneva agreement immediately, including talks between the Kiev government and the separatists over the changes to the constitution immediately.
Russia was daring the U.S. and other Security Council members to oppose a call for an end to all violence in Ukraine or to oppose talks between the Kiev government and the separatists.
Will Obama once again opt for allowing peace in our time and sign on to a meaningless U.N. Security Council Statement ?
