Well, Turkey is a member of NATO. Inçirlik US Air force base is one of the most important NATO bases. At the time there were almost no intercontinental missiles: so USA put in Turkey strategic nuclear missiles threatening USSR territory.

I googled the words >turkey cuban missile crisis< and got lots of hits.

Khrushchev demanded that the U.S. remove its missiles from Turkey in
exchange for the Soviets removing their missiles from Cuba.

What kind of relations did NATO and Turkey have during the Cuban Missile Crisis? Everywhere I look, they have only USA-Turkey, nato is usually not mentioned. Can you at least give me a link where I could read a little bit about their relations?
