I certainly would have been for shooting
down the balloon the minute it entered
US airspace. I would not have
criticized any leader for doing so.

I am not sure how Trump shooting it down
earlier would have been "sticking it in
the ear" of the establishment. (or
anyone else)

I think that Biden is naively thinking
that not shooting it down would somehow
ease tensions with the Chinese. We both
know that is impossible.

Biden is trying to placate the Chinese
and their apologists. The Chinese are
certainly preparing to attack us. We
ought to be using any and every method
to defend ourselves and prepare for what
is coming. Instead, we are trying to
return to "business as usual" and do not
understand that every new infraction by
the Chinese that we allow is only
emboldening them.

The balloon is just one example. You
can look at Afghanistan, the southern
border, the northern border, crime in
the Democrat-run cities, the war on
energy, the trillions of dollars in
spending on his political cronies, etc.

In every Trump policy, he acted to
America's advantage, not his own as you
claim. And he was always criticized by
a loud, endless media chorus of hate, to
which he said, stick it in your ear.

In every Biden policy, he acted to his
own benefit, including massive
corruption, and he was always met by
loud, endless media chorus of support,
no matter how bad the policy was for
America.

That's the context in which Trump was
acting. You can argue that maybe he
didn't always say the right thing, but
he has always worked in America's
interest, and was always massively
criticized by the media. I agree with
supporters who say that Trump has shown
amazing strength and perservance in
America's favor, no matter how much the
media spewed hate at him.

Trump has endured Hillary's phony Steele
dossier, the phony Russia Russia Russia
hoax, the worthless multi-million dollar
Muller probe with 21 Trump haters, phony
impeachment #1, phony impeachment #2 led
by shithead Adam Schiff who could not
open his mouth without some ridiculous
lie regarding Trump, the farcical
January 6 commission where no one was
permitted to cross-examine, even the
phony edited video clips, and so forth.

In all of those phone hate-filled
attacks, you would have Trump just sit
back and take it like a punching bag.
Instead, he always punched back and I,
for one, was always cheered by that. An
example was his meetings with Kim
Jong-un, which were met with ridiculous
hate-filled criticism by the media. I
wrote articles (based on strategy
supplied by Steve Bannon, who is an
expert on both military history and
Generational Dynamics) showing how he
was preventing Kim from testing nuclear
weapons and ballistic missiles, and
Trump was successful in that strategy,
while the media-adored Biden was/is a
failure.

You say that DeSantis would be better
than Trump, but there is no evidence for
that, since the hate-filled media
attacks on DeSantis have been muted by
the attacks on Trump. However, if
DeSantis actually becomes the candidate,
then the media will turn full-force
blasts on him, similar to the "Don't say
gay" attack a couple of months ago.
Biden will just return to his basement
strategy and be the nice, old man that
people love, and let the media fight his
battles for him.

So I have been and am cheered by Trump
punching back against the hate-filled
attacks against him. Trump is fighting
not for himself, but for America and for
the American people.

I'm also cheered by the fact that
Trump's campaign has received $8 million
from donors just in the few days since
Bratt's ridiculous indictment farce.

If Trump had done anything wrong they would have found it before he won the 2016 election. They couldn't find anything so they've been making it up ever since. Nor could they find anything on his family. His personality leaves a lot to be desired but by all accounts he raised a pretty decent family - probably better than some of us here. Definitely better than most of the politicians of our day. That says something about the man.

This whole affair in a nutshell explains my Anti-American sentiment - we are now at the opening stages of banana republic status. The government is setting out to destroy this man. Not just the opposing party but the entire government. When he's finished, it's lights out. That's how close we are to totalitarianism. Do we look as bad as China or Russia? No, not yet. They've had decades of practice, but we'll catch up, I guarantee it.

There is no one else with the chutzpah to oppose them. No matter how good DeSantis (or anyone else) is, he's a politician, so he's one of them.

I never thought Trump was a savior, just a respite from that long descent into Socialist paradise. The pace has been quickening over the last few years and will soon be a sprint. Biden is not trying placate the Chinese; he is owned by the Chinese. The official strategy of the Democrats and NeoCons is to beat the Chinese by becoming more like them.

Whoever prevails - China, Russia, the US - my take is the same as Orwell's: "The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which."

There's another scenario to be
considered -- the England 1939 scenario.
Winston Churchill was the only one who
spoke the truth, and he was hated for
it. When his truth turned out to
actually occur, Churchill became a hero
and leader by acclamation.

Today, Donald Trump is the only one who
is speaking the truth, and he is hated
for it. When war with China forces a
Regeneracy on America (in the sense of a
Fourth Turning Crisis era Regeneracy of
civic unity), and Trump's truth turns
out to actually occur, Trump may become
a hero and leader by acclamation.

Whenever Trump did good things, I applauded him. For Example, I have always said that his Supreme Court nominees were stellar. This is in comparison with people like Roberts, nominated by a Republican, who then decides to go liberal a lot to "keep the peace" with his leftist colleges.

Trump did champion a lot of good things, like attempting to do border security, and he certainly got tougher with China. All good.

Real people, unlike in the movies, are not binary. They are not all good or all bad. Trump is a great example. Trump took care of America while it was in his best interest to do so.

IMHO, Trump's primary motivation is not America, but himself. This has been on full display since the 2020 election, and is well described by that NY Post opinion piece I quoted. Since the election, Trump has certainly done a LOT that is not in the best interest of America, or even of the Republican party. (Note the failure to contribute some of the funds he raised to actual candidates in 2022).

Trump's character and motivation was known before 2016. I even wrote about Trump's business record at the time on my own website. But even then, he was preferable to Hillary, who would have been MUCH worse. Even his misogony paled in comparison to what Bill and Hillary had done to women.

Conservatives need to move on from Trump to candidates and standard bearers who can win elections and can make progress.

Another outcome of this Trump prosecution is that the gloves may come off, and conservative DA's and judges will go after Democrat criminals like the Clintons and Bidens.

This could be the start of the political turmoil (the economic turmoil has already started) which I believe will lead the CCP to think that the US is completely distracted/divided and would be a good time to start the war.

Continuing:

I would have no one just stand by and take the partisan attacks spewed out by the liberal media. Not Trump or DeSantis, or anyone. These people are biased and frequently liars, and they should be called out for it.

We need media that report on FACTS not Opinions. This is basically dead. Not just on the left, but increasingly on the right too. Fox News knew that there was no evidence of voter fraud. They are going to get hammered in court over the Dominion voting machine case. Because they stopped reporting FACTS and instead went with what Trump wanted them to.

We have to remain unbiased ourselves and go with evidence and facts. And when someone on either side does illegal things, they need to be held accountable.

This is why not just Trump, but the Clintons and the Bidens should also be in criminal courts.

You could be right, John. Either way, it's going to get ugly, fast. I think most people are not prepared for how quickly things will start happening, and I don't think it's avoidable.

** 04-Apr-2023 World View: Trump's behavior

I can recall once, years ago, when I was
unjustly fired, and kinda went crazy,
sending company managers e-mail messages
telling them that they were idiots.

I recognized exactly that craziness by
Trump after he lost the 2020 election.

However, if you believe as Trump does
and I do, that the election was stolen
from him by election fraud, then Trump's
craziness was not so unreasonable.

There's an additional factoid that I've
never mentioned, and that has been
almost forgotten. When the Democrats
announced, about 8 months before the
2020 election, that they would be
flooding the states with blank mail-in
ballots, I heard Trump say, "You're not
going to get away with that." Trump and
I both knew, 8 months before the
election, that the Democrats were
planning massive election fraud.

So when the Democrats actually did get
away with massive election fraud, he
went a bit nuts, just as I did years ago
when I was unjustly fired.

1) There are no other candidates that can win for the Republicans. Who else could withstand the attacks that he has, and survive? Any future candidates will experience worse, if that's even possible.

2) Trump was self-made, and so they could not destroy him. Most (or all?) regular politicians are made by others, and can be unmade just as easily. DeSantis' reaction to this whole indictment affair was a total botch because he relies on handlers, because he's a politician. Trump is at his best when he reacts from his gut. He's a street fighter.

3) Any state where the vote was not challenged (or allowed to be challenged) in 2020 will be won by Democrats, or a Republican they deem acceptable. The Republicans will never win the presidency again, because the Democrats' voting apparatus is now in place. And that's all they care about, because they now know they can rule by fiat, the Constitution be damned. In 2016 they stopped counting for several hours because they were caught flat-footed by the overwhelming support for Trump, and only started again when they realized they couldn't do anything about it. Same thing in 2020 except they were better prepared, with fingers crossed that they could get away with their cheating. Which they did. In 2024, overnight ballot dumps and delayed results will be accepted practice, and Democrats will win again. Some say that there's no proof of cheating, but does it make sense that whenever there's an election dispute, the Democrat wins something like 99.5% of the time? Every election year the laws of statistics are rewritten.

4) Conservative DAs and judges wouldn't go after Democrats because they play by a different set of rules. To use the playbook of the left would make them indistinguishable. Sometimes I wish they would, but I think we're just fated to go on as we are. I'm not optimistic about change until something cataclysmic happens.

There are plenty of viable conservative options to Trump. You are correct that the initial attacks against Trump were despicable. The Russians didn't help him win the election. The Steele dossier was a complete fabrication. Democrats have set up the current situation where people are saying that Trump is being persecuted based on previous instances where he certainly was. Yes, liberals and their media will attack any viable conservative candidate. But the truth does come out (as it did with earlier invalid accusations against Trump) and viable conservatives will weather the storm.

Trump is not entirely self made. His father started him out with millions. Then he shafted the taxpayers of NY, then his lenders, his contractors, his investors and so on. We are indeed greatly hampered by professional politicians. Few are willing to get into politics unless they can enrich themselves by doing so. And Trump has certainly joined these ranks. I can only hope that somehow virtuous people can get into positions of authority, but the chances are increasingly remote.

I do not believe that voting is now invalidated by fraud. Trump won in 2020 in states where the Republicans did proper outreach and get-out-the-vote campaigns. Yes, there is a problem with mail in voting. Most legislatures are still Republican controlled and can (and are) fix(ing) this. I think over 30 states have Republican dominated legislatures.

I don't want Conservative DAs and Judges to "make stuff up" like Democrats did to go after Trump in the early years of his Presidency. They don't need to. There is plenty of graft/corruption/criminality that they can go after which actually happened or is continuing to go on. Both Clintons should be in prison. Biden, his brother, and his son should all be in prison. There is plenty of evidence.

I agree that it will take something cataclysmic to create change. Even then, I believe it will only be temporary. Enough to get us through the war with China/Russia, and then it all falls apart. The cultural decline is too much and is too steep. The economic implications of massive debt (and then a major war) are now insurmountable.
