After promising, and not delivering, sanctions for many recent actions by Russia, Obama is once again creating a new Red Line for Russia.

The most recent Obama red line that came, and went, without action by Obama, was if Russia did NOT compel the militias, the militias Obama has concluded include Russian organized, paid, supported and commanded, professional military forces, to leave buildings in eastern Ukraine peacefully, before early this week. That deadline came, and went, and that threat of sanctions is now "inoperative".

Today that becomes the old red line that Obama drew in front of Russia and both Russia and Obama promptly failed to heed. Obama treated it as just another broken promise he never intended to keep. Putin treated it as just another empty threat, by an elected leader that is either incapable of, or will not, back up his threats with action..

Today Obama laid down a new red line in Ukraine. If Russia sends troops across the border. Then, Obama is going to act. Trust him, he means it this time.

Confused ? Obama is going to let Russia slide if they do NOT do something that Obama said they did weeks ago.

Obama's newest red line is actually designed to keep Russia from crossing the border with hundreds, or thousands, or tens of thousands of conventional troops, not just the dozens of special forces troops Obama has already concluded, and the Obama administration has announced to the world has happened for a fact certain.

If Russia does invade Ukraine with conventional forces, and starts either a new major war in Europe, or a new cold war in Europe, then Obama and Putin will share the blame for that, and history will record Obama and Putin, like Chamberlain and Hitler before them, as co-architects of this new major war.
