Canadian scientists have known about the dangers since 2011. How could Tyson be so dismissive? He is not on my 'favourite' list anymore. http://gm.org/2011/05/12/harmful-bt-tox ... man-blood/
Recent studies made by researchers from the University of Sherbrooke in Canada have detected an insecticidal protein called Cry1Ab that is circulating in the blood of pregnant as well as non-pregnant women. The researchers also have discovered the toxin in fetal blood, signifying that it may be passed off to the next generation. The research paper has undergone peer review and have been published in the journal Reproductive Toxicology.
The said study involved 30 pregnant women and 39 non-pregnant women who came to the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Sherbrooke (CHUS) in Quebec for a tubectomy. It is also worth noting that none of the subjects worked or lived with a spouse who was working in direct contact with pesticides. All of them were considered to follow a typical Canadian diet which included eating GM foods such as corn, potatoes and soybeans. Blood samples from the women were taken before delivery for pregnant women and during tubal ligation for the non-pregnant ones. Umbilical blood sampling was also done after birth.
During analysis of the blood samples, the Cry1Ab toxin was detected in 93 percent of the pregnant women and 80 percent from the fetal blood samples. And also, 69 percent of the blood samples of non-pregnant women were found to have the said toxin. There were earlier studies showing that trace amounts of the Cry1Ab toxin was found in the gastrointestinal contents of livestock that has been given GM corn as feed. This have given initial fears that the said toxin may not be always broken down effectively in the gut as what most biotech companies and GM Food proponents imply.

jpl knows the trajectory. You touched on it before and evidence may link to the maunder minimum 1680 event.
Hard to say maybe linkage from the 1811 event.

Great Comet of 1680 —This comet has an orbit strikingly similar to Comet ISON, ...
Great Comet of 1843 — This comet was a member of the Kruetz Sungrazing Comet Group

The West Without Water
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-09-0 ... hout-water

ET: When you say “West”, which regions are you referring to?

LI: In the book we focus on the climate history of California and the Southwest, but also bring in examples and comparisons with other western states as appropriate (such as Oregon and Washington, Nevada, Utah, etc.), as the entire region experiences similar storms and is controlled by similar climate that originates in the Pacific Ocean.

ET: Can you walk us through some of the major climatic events of the past thousand years in that part of the US? How unusual was the 20 century in that context?

LI: We had a relatively dry period during the Medieval Warm Period, 900-1400AD. There were several prolonged periods of drought that lasted decades to over a century during that time. That period was followed by a cooler, wetter period (the Little Ice Age) that continued until the 19 century. However, the tree-ring records suggest that the 20 century was unusually wet, meaning we had fewer droughts on average than the previous 1000 years.

ET: Presumably there were Native American populations who went through those protracted periods of dryness. How did they manage to survive? Is there anything we can learn from that?

LI: Actually during the medieval droughts, the Ancestral Pueblo or Anasazi civilization that inhabited the four corners region, whose populations had grown during the wetter periods leading up to the droughts, suffered greatly. There is evidence for conflict, disease and finally mass migration out of their region. The native populations in California also had increased violence, malnutrition and abandoned sites in search of water and other resources.

Someone can grow up in a clean environment eating natural foods, get exposed to toxins later in life and generally be OK. In this case, the body can more easily self-correct by eliminating exposures, going back to a better diet, etc. When the toxins hit the fetus during development, the fetus can be damaged permanently, as genetic changes can happen which can then get passed to future generations, even when there is no direct exposure to the future generations. Let's say you smoke. That could damage your grandkids or great grandkids more than it hurts yourself. Under those conditions, it is more difficult for the body to self-correct. For this reason, I think it's possible for a person to be obese and not be able to do anything about it. I also think as time goes on it is likely that a greater proportion of the obese will not be able to do anything about it, as the root cause can change from being predominantly dietary habits to being predominantly genetic. I used to tell people, "If you eat like I do, you will lose the weight." I no longer believe that is necessarily true.

From a forthcoming book titled “Kennewick Man: The Scientific Investigation of an Ancient American Skeleton”

"Native Americans appear to have been in a constant state of warfare, with many tribes becoming extinct well before the arrival of Columbus. Not only did these tribes have to compete for food but also genes, where problems associated with inbreeding likely led to the common practice of raiding one another for women and slaves. The arrival of the Europeans did not make things any better, and not before long they were also fighting among each other."

Does the above provide the fallback answer to the question I previously raised regarding fighting in the Middle East? The question being "the solution is?"

Same as it ever was.

Is this just a part of "human nature" or is it a fundamental part of existence? Have you ever watched the interplay among animals? Have you ever watched plants choke one another out for growing space? We are part of existence, so why should we be different? Because we think we are?

Trying to view reality without rose colored glasses, a spade is a spade.

I live a few miles from where "Kennewick Man" was discovered.

The location is on the banks of a very large man made lake created by one of the many huge hydro-electric dams built on the Columbia River. The Columbia is the second largest river in the United States based on flow rate. Much larger than the Missouri or the upper Mississippi, and only smaller than the Lower Mississippi river that combines both the flow rates of the Missouri and the Mississippi.

The land is in the middle of three cities, and was taken by the U.S. Corps of Engineers, through eminent domain, when the federal damn was built by the U.S. Corps of Engineers in the 1950s. The Dam, and the Lake, were named after a location below the Damn that was frequented by Indian Tribes, that camped near the Columbia River, below the site of the Dam. The location "Kennewick Man" was found in was up the river 30 miles above the damn.

Long ago the land was leased to the two surrounding cities as a park, paid for, controlled, and operated, solely by the two cities who surround the Corps of Engineers owned land.

The Park location is actually slightly above the man made lake, on a stretch of the Columbia River that transitions from the artificial lake to a long stretch of free flowing river above the lake. Unlike the permanent man made lake there are no dikes, levies, or pumping stations built by the Corps on the shores of the park. The miles long park is known simply as "Columbia Park".

"Kennewick Man" was found on the Kennewick side of the boundary between the city limits of Kennewick, and the city limits of the city of Richland. The boundry of the two cities divides the park into two parts.

The point of this story is that a few weeks after the body was found the Clinton Administration declared dozens of yards, in every direction from where the body was discovered, including out into the river, a burial ground for an Indian tribe located below this very long, 30 mile, man made lake.

The Corps was ordered by the Clinton Administration to protect the site from being desecrated by scientific investigation, and the Corps did so by using heavy lift Army Helicopters to dump hundreds of tons of boulders, and large rocks, on, and around the site. The noise from these huge heavy lift helicopters continued for weeks as they literally crushed the archeological evidence in, and around, this site.

As the Indian tribe they were claiming to protect told the U.S. government at the time, they did not have a burial ground that far up the River, and that area of the Columbia River had been controlled by a large, war like, confederation of other tribes since before the known history of the tribe being "protected".

As noted, it turned out, after the scientists were allowed to study the body, that there was no genetic connection to any of the modern day tribes in the United States or Canada. "Kennewick Man" had lived, and died, before the ancestors of modern day tribes migrated to North America.

None the less. The "Indian Burial Ground", and what ever artifacts in it that were not crushed, remains off limits to archeological research.

Interesting story -- a bit similar to the issue in New Zealand, The Maori are considered the indigenous people of New Zealand and therefor have privileges over the whites or immigrants. The problem is, during a New Zealand archaeological dig about 15 years ago, bones and artifacts were found that indicate the Fijians inhabited New Zealand before the Maori, a different ethnic group. Indicating, using the above logic regarding immigrants and privileges, that the Maori should not have privileges since they are also immigrants. This would not go over well.
Solution, stop the dig, bury the site and ban all access to it.

Standard operating procedure regarding inconvenient "facts"

Oh, and of course then there is the interesting discovery of early red haired European type mummies found in China https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWdfzIreUfg

"We" are from where? who knows?
