The world is on Fire - Why Now ?

Post by Reality Check »

North Africa is in play.

The Middle East is in play.

Ukraine is in play.

National borders are changing.

National borders appear to be meaningless today, why ?

The world order that was established first after World War I, and then again after World War II, has broken down, why ?

Perhaps the better question is why did it last so long?

The classic answer is that it was in the interest of all the Major Powers of the world to maintain the sanctity of world borders.

Generation Dynamics tells us it has more to do with the will of the people in each individual nation.

After experiencing what happens when respect for borders breaks down during the world wars, the survivors, and most importantly the victors, had an interest in making sure things did not change, and they had just learned the hard why, that in war things change in an unpredictable, and very costly way.

The United States and Great Britain did not want to go the way of the Austrian Empire, the Ottoman ( Turkish ) Empire, and the Russian Empire.

After World War II the re-established Russian Empire, in the form of the Soviet Union, also wanted the protection of a
world order that made it's borders unchallengable.

So why did that change?
