That's like saying that behind closed doors Democrats discuss Trump/s
proposals approvingly, or that behind closed doors Republicans discuss
Obama's proposals approvingly.

The thing I've learned about this web site is that people of all
ideologies hate it.

Having said that, someone just phoned me a couple of hours ago and
complimented on a web site that's better than either MSNBC or Fox
News, because it's objective and non-ideological. That was nice.

I believe I understand the context of your answer, as in:

Professor 1: "What do you think of Xenakis' GD Theory?"
Professor 2: "I hate it."

You are framing it as an ideological debate about the overall theory.

However, I think there are many specific side discussions that academics would be interested in because they are looking for topics to research or perhaps questioning whether to devote 5 years of their lives to researching a narrow area, as in:

Professor 1: "What do you think about Higgenbotham's claim that self-replicating machines with superior intelligence would return humans to hunter-gatherer status and then exterminate themselves?"
Professor 2: "Wouldn't talking about that blow any chances we would have to get more funding to study AI?"
Professor 1: "Oh yeah, I thought that sounded like bullshit anyway."

I highly doubt that on the basis that GD predicts the future based on the distant past, whereas Universities and Governments tend to have short memories.

To be fair, the vision of the website isn't always clear, particularly in the seeming non-sequitur between Generation Theory and the Singularity. I know I was confused at first, expecting to see more discussion on history than the present, and I think Justin has the same issue.

That may suggest this site has more merit as a news outlet than historical theory, at least in the public eye.

I believe academics or government researchers are likely viewing specific, narrow topics on this site for pragmatic reasons, because they want to find ideas which contribute to their research. I think that explains why a topic with 4 posts may get 2,500 views whereas most will get a few hundred.

But I don't think they are interested in using the overall theory for forecasting. The overall theory is too broad for the kind of work that is done today.

I find it intresting we just got wiped out again but the economy by fiat is just fine.

The reason I conveyed this was I knew a guy who survived the 1913 flood and the effects
that did happen was indeed missed by the so called educated. He is now gone for some time now.
That was 1981 when he smiled and said a few things about people and that did not include
those in office who he did not consider "human".

Even in the old SU before it collapsed, you could stoke a boiler at night and still be pretty comfortable vis a vis the next guy. Here in the US you almost have to be part of top ~35% business as usual to get by comfortably. Getting by comfortably just meaning being in a relatively crime free zone. So I think what interests people is strictly business as usual for survival purposes. In the relatively crime free zone, rent is due on the first, the late fee is maybe $50, and the lease renewal may show an increase of 5%. PG&E will be increasing rates as aedens noted. You need your computer, Internet and phone as John noted. Nobody in the former SU had any of that to worry about. Should we accept refugees from Syria now or Vegas later? Irrelevant, rent is due on the first.

I would guess that 99% of the people who read my World View column on
a daily basis, whether on my web site or on Breitbart or elsewhere, do
so for the news. Some people have told me that my column is the only
news that they trust, because it's objective and not ideological. I
doubt that there's more than 1% that care about generational theory,
and perhaps a few percentage points more of people who are interested
in the historical aspects as they apply to today's news.

I see. And yet, all of these World View observations are heavily based on your theories on Generational Dynamics (I assume). That's how one determines what events are relevant to the future and what events aren't. If people studied the past more, they would have a better time interpreting the present.

The World View observations are totally based on Generational Dynamics
theory. But very few people understand the relationship between
generational analysis behind the news reports. Most people just
accept them as the news without understanding the theory behind them,
just as most people drive a car without understanding how the engine
works. This has become increasingly true in recent years, because
everything I've been predicting for years has been coming true, one
thing after another. The Iran prediction coming true has been
particularly convincing.
