This only shows how effective Russian sponsored 'fake news' has become.
No, it shows people can and still use critical thinking skills. I said I am "dubious" and I laid out legitimate reasons for why. We cannot trust our media and we cannot trust the jihadist. If you think otherwise, you're the one being influenced by "fake news".
It's arrogant and stupid like you that make 'fake news' so effective.
The arrogant one here is you. You've also displayed your stupidity with your comment.

http://orient-news.net/en/news_show/134 ... ssa-Beeley
The notorious Assad regime propagandist Vanessa Beeley has been recently on a speaking tour of the UK. She has been showing up at small venues in Bristol, Birmingham, and London to give a presentation entitled “Aleppo: Fall or Liberation”. These talks have been hosted by the Communist Party of Great Britain Marxist-Leninist (CPGB-ML), which openly supports and glorifies Josef Stalin.

Members of Syria Solidarity UK who attended Beeley’s presentation (two and a half hours long) have provided a more detailed account of the meeting in an article that will only look at a few minutes of her talk, which encapsulate the maliciousness of her propaganda and how it is designed to make the targeting and murder of Syrian civilians acceptable to people who consider themselves “progressive” and “anti-imperialist”.

Yes, I am for real, and you keep doing the same over and over. See, when you stoop to immature personal attacks, which display both arrogance and stupidity. If the points you are making can stand on their own, you do not need to stoop to such childish antics. An intelligent and confident, yet humble person does not need to engage in such antics when confronted with civil discourse. Your reaction exposes your true self - a childish and boorish person.

My opinions (more aptly, my questions) are my own and based on --- a critically thinking mind. I don't believe everything I read or see (you are, clearly, a spoonfed sheep).

Now, since I know your type - you MUST get in the last word, or you cannot be happy. As such, I will let you. Go ahead and reply in your childish manner; I will not bother with responding to you any longer.

Have a nice day.

What a snowflake you are. Such typical pseudo-intellectual spew. I have seen these comments used word for word many times before. These words apply to you, not your enemies. If you consider being called a fool because you are one to be an unfair personal attack, then I'll chalk that up to your inability to be held accountable for anything. I hate thin skinned people. I've noticed that people like you can dish it out, but you can't take it. Let me add that you are a stereotypical rank coward. Now go get yourself a skinny cappuccino and order something 'bespoke', you whiny hipster.

And remember: life goes on without you.

Thanks thomasglee for participating in these types of discussions in an adult - critical thinking fashion. It is a shame that this forum attracts those who have no interest in rational discussion of important issues. It doesn't matter if I agree with you or not - what matters is that we can engage in thoughtful discussion so as to better understand the realities of the world around us.

I'm also coming to the conclusion that our society's present path towards muffling/outlawing contrary opinion is what will lead us to the next genocide. We must be able to agree that it's ok to disagree. And we must hold eachother accountable to backing up our opinion with real facts.

Regards - Jack

Thank you for the kind words and for your willingness/ability to engage in a sober, sound, and thoughtful discourse. As I state at the beginning of this thread, "I'm dubious". That does not mean I am convinced that it wasn't Assad, just that I'm dubious. Healthy skepticism is just that; healthy. I am dubious of anything that has all the talking heads on TV in agreement. Especially those that are so embedded into the establishment.

Remain skeptical. Question everything. Do nothing. Be defeated.

Woe to the vanquished.

thomasglee wrote:I am still dubious about the chemical attacks. I understand the position you posit and can agree with it, to some extent, but then again, call me cynical, but I just do not trust the jihadists or our media to tell us the truth. It is sad that we can no longer trust our media.
Contrary opinions and calling things dubious is easy. Like the opposition in the commons pointing out that the economy is doing badly but offering no solutions. Do you have any facts to base your doubts on? All I see are opinions here and no facts. Should the world just shrug and do nothing? With almost half a million dead, millions displaced in Syria, and millions of refugees wrecking havoc in Europe, what should the world do? Nothing? Express doubts? The world has done nothing for years and now the chickens have come home to roost. Do the great debaters on this board have any solutions, or are you all just content to cast doubts and let weaponized refugees devastate Europe? You two sound like smug 9th graders on the Model UN team.

Poison gas or no poison gas, Assad is committing genocide. I don't think Trump is doing much of anything. I think the situation warrants a decapitation strike. I'm willing to risk the wrath of the Russians. I would rather gamble and save Europe, than do nothing and watch it be destroyed by refugees.

You bark about genocide coming to America, well, it's going on all over the world, and it's not based on free speech. I think most of you have missed John's point. Assad has been committing war crimes for years. The gas attacks are just one part of it. If the gas attack story fails to be proved to your satisfaction, are you content to do nothing in Syria? When the war spills into Israel and Turkey, are you content to wallow in doubts?

I'm glad that the doubters are stuck pounding sand and shouting at the wind on this board. Here, you can do no harm.
