Financial topics
Re: Financial topics
And precisely why we left it all behind 7 years ago and moved to the mountains of Southwestern VA. It's not perfect here by any stretch of imagination. But at least we now control our own sources of food, water and electricity rather than being dependent upon the faceless and self interested government bureaucracy and the sociopath leadership running this country.
We are not completely self sufficient, but we are orders of magnitude more so than we were and nearly all presently are.

A 62-year-old man who became Spain’s first coronavirus patient is believed to have made a full recovery after being treated with an HIV drug.
He was hospitalized at the Virgen del Rocio Hospital in Seville, where he received lopinavir-ritonavir, an antiretroviral drug sold under the brand name Kaletra.
The drug — which has been used to treat HIV and AIDS for over 10 years — was combined with interferon beta, a protein that prevents cells from becoming infected
Santiago Moreno, head of infectious diseases at the Ramón y Cajal hospital in Madrid, said the “SARS-CoV-2 protease is very similar to that of HIV,” using another name for the novel coronavirus. “This enzyme is essential for the virus to replicate. The combination of lopinavir and ritonavir inhibits and blocks HIV,” he said.

I covered shorts this morning for a 5 point loss past 3 days basis 10 lots. That doesn't say much about what I expect the market to do; it's just getting out near break even after having entered too far below this morning's high and finding a better place to take a position.
Be carefull.

It's very simple. A person self-reported to an Everett hospital a few weeks ago. They had the Mexican Beer Virus - at the point when nobody here knew much about it. The nursing and doctor staff who treated said patient (due to information being unavailable) did not follow full containment procedures to treat said patient. So some of the nursing staff either contracted the virus or acted as carriers. One of the nurses who worked at the Everett hospital worked part-time at the Kirkland nursing home. So she spread it (inadvertently) from the Everett patient to the inmates at the Kirkland nursing home. A very simple story that has not been properly reported. (it was investigated by a highly qualified virologist in Seattle - the info has been available for over a week but nobody is reporting on it)

Re: Financial topics
Zero Hedge tells how a large market maker was blown out on Friday which caused the VIX to spike (then reverse lower) into an area that has normally stopped the stock market from declining. There was divergence between the VIX and SPX Friday with the SPX making a higher low. On CBNC Thursday, Tom McClellan does in my opinion a better job than anyone I have seen lately give 3 reasons for the stock market decline, 2 of which have been resolved (coronavirus has not). On Thursday evening and Friday, I saw the normal headlines indicating the Fed is going to start riding to the rescue. That can be found by scrolling for several pages here: https://www.forexlive.com/ So I think the market is at a bifurcation point. It can rally for a few days or it can crash, but it seems destined to make its decision soon. Along the same lines, I saw an article in Harvard Business Review saying that peak coronavirus related supply chain disruption will occur by mid March. So if it's the former (rally for a few days), but the HBR article proves to be correct, that could provide the impetus for a crash from mid March.

Only net buyer of stocks has been the company buy-backs. If there is a recession/depression the one buyer stops buying.
The government pension funds have been buying the corporate debt the companies have issued to do the share buy backs,
but government taxes go way down in a recession. So the taxes to support the company share buy back will go away.
We were due for a recession before coronavirus but now probably depression.
Really looks like time for trouble.
