The comment that a fire sale would undermine prices is an understatement. I would be shocked, if under 20% of the world's natural resources weren't going into China construction. It hasn't been that long ago, the US came out of a burst housing bubble, that took 7 or 8 years to work off. What happened, in the US, should have happened in China 10 years or more ago. Instead, the band played on. The impact around the world will be massive.
China presents a real problem, because it is full of homes and buildings that will never be occupied. Its population has peaked and new problems will present. Housing has been built at a pace 5 times or more of historical peak, in the US. China poured more concrete, in 3 years, than the US poured in the 20th century. Chew on that and swallow it. Steel goes into concrete. A long line of capital goods line up behind these resources. The same goes for minerals that go into construction and capital goods. The situation mirrors 1929 USA, but much larger.

The housing bubble was suspended in some part by the Party. They've apparently judged it time to deflate. Therefore all the empty expensive apartments can be filled once they become affordable. Sure, lots of investors will get burned but all financial investments are risky and they should have known. Scapegoats will be punished for appeasement. Moving people from the countryside into urban apartments is a Party priority, maybe in part to keep the population controlled and in centralized locations to better receive Party indoctrination.tim wrote: ↑Tue Sep 28, 2021 8:06 pmI always thought the Chinese ghost cities were for a population displaced by nuclear war.mannfm11 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 28, 2021 7:51 pmThe China bubble is probably the most important economic issue on Earth today. It does make me laugh: Macron saying that the US is not a reliable partner. Trump, who was right on most things defence-wise, said that Europe was/is not a reliable partner because they just won't pay a genuine 2pc of GDP into NATO. Trump 1 : EU 0

When (not if) the system engineered by the CCP implodes, they, of course, will not take the blame. They will blame it on the USA and start shooting. They will do anything to remain in power, and can only deflect the anger of their population at the fiscal mess that is about to unfold by starting a major war.FullMoon wrote: ↑Wed Sep 29, 2021 12:45 amThe housing bubble was suspended in some part by the Party. I hope people are fully engaged in preparing for what is coming.
And, BTW, things won't be much better after the war either. IMHO we have roughly 10 years of increasing difficulties ahead. Now is the last period that supplies, equipment and other necessary commodities will be easy (relatively) to get.

I read a twit from a twitter account of someone that has been following the evergrand fraud scheme for a while and he said that his sources in mainland China have begun to tell him that the problems are not just in the real estate sector. They are telling him that there is a problem with energy as well. They are saying that there are shortages and that there are blackouts and the frequency of the blackouts is growing as well as the areas where they are having blackouts. Dakardii I agree with you that there are psycho war mongering bastards in our government but not everything is a grand war scheme, also to my knowledge the Trump administration didn't start any new wars and Pompeo was part of it so I don't think it is accurate to call him a warmongering neocon. One more thing to all the "guests" on this forum could you please get some new handles it would make things less confusing, at least "another guest" made somewhat of an effort.

Oh, this is just great.Dimon says JPMorgan preparing for 'potentially catastrophic' US credit default
JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon said that the multinational investment bank has started to prepare for a "potentially catastrophic" situation in which the United States could default on the national debt.
John, do you still think the US dollar will be the last man standing? Is gold still a bad investment?
