We'll also be at war with China, and probably none
of this will matter.
And there you have it.

China's energy crisis is extremely serious, and it's going to affect
the entire world in terms of supply chains.

If you want to have gifts for your kids under your Christmas tree this
year, then you'd better buy them now, because they won't be available
long, if they're even available now.
Do you think we will make it to Christmas without WW3 breaking out? It seems doubtful if one looks at all of the activity in the Taiwan Straights now.

Yes, another of the issues is also that the premium over spot is crazy for silver.

It seems to me that supplies, arms, and bitcoin are by far the best way to go. Divisibility and portability is where BTC shines and will continue to not only have these characteristics, but will outdo PMs to boot, and it won't even be close.

** 01-Oct-2021 World View: Energy prices

There is a major crisis brewing, threatening to explode. Yesterday
we mentioned China's energy crisis.

China has now ordered energy companies to purchase coal and gas
"at all costs," meaning that China will push energy prices up
to astronomical levels for the rest of the world.

It now turns out that prices of gas in Europe have increased
250% since January, with winter approaching.

America is still reasonably self-sufficient, despite the determined
efforts of the Democrats to destroy the American economy in every
way possible. Still, astronomical growth in energy prices could
have lots of unexpected consequences.

Does that mean the Red Chinese will buy coal from Australia?

** 01-Oct-2021 World View: Energy crunch - Global economic crisis

"The global energy crunch could help propel oil prices above $100 a
barrel for the first time since 2014 and spur a global economic
crisis, according to Bank of America."

"China's central government officials ordered the country's top
state-owned energy companies - from coal to electricity and oil - to
secure supplies for this winter at all costs, according to sources
familiar with the matter. ...

Blackouts will not be tolerated, the people said.

Chinese coal futures earlier surged to a record as the country
grapples with shortages of the fuel ahead of a week-long holiday.
Prices have more than doubled this year amid soaring electricity
demand from factories and slow output growth from mines.

The emergency meeting underscores the critical situation in China. A
severe energy crisis has gripped the country, and several regions have
had to curtail power to the industrial sector, while some residential
areas have even faced sudden blackouts. China's power crunch is
unleashing turmoil in the global commodities markets, fueling rallies
in everything from fertiliser to silicon."

That would be hard right now since Australia has been finding other markets and India bought up stockpiles that had been sitting at Chinese ports

Coal prices from major exporters have scaled all-time highs recently. Prices for Australia’s Newcastle coal, considered an Asian benchmark, have surged close to a record. Indonesian export prices have risen 30 per cent in the last three months.

The story in that article is really amazing. It's talking about 2
million tons of coal that Australia had delivered to China months ago,
and is sitting in warehouses in ports in China, but the Chinese won't
use it because they're pissed off at Australia for calling for an
international investigation about Covid virus in the Wuhan lab, and
because Australia criticizes the Uighur atrocities.

This is the moment when my mother would laugh and say, "You're cutting
off your nose to spite your face."

So they're going to buy coal from Mongolia at super-high prices "at
all costs," but they won't use the cheap coal already sitting in their
own warehouses. Instead, India has bought the coal for its own use.

Amazing.

I'd like to say that the Chinese politicians are the most destructive
and self-destructive people in the world, but they may not be as
destructive and self-destructive as the politicians in Washington.

Has there ever been an instance of a nation in a crisis era that does not experience a regeneration event? If so how does that effect the generational dynamics?

I read your China and Vietnam book, good reading....
