The Cuban Missile Crisis was all about America not wanting the weapons of a hostile military alliance next door to Florida. Why isn't Russia entitled to feel the same way?!!

Crimea was part of Russia until 1954 when a communist dictator handed Crimea to Ukraine without consulting the population of Ukraine!!! If it was OK for Kosovo to break away from Serbia why wasn't it OK for Crimea to rejoin Russia?!!!

People here say Britain can't afford a National Insurance increase, but apparently Britain has money to burn in helping out any state that asks for military assistance. Will Taiwan be next ?

Do we seriously imagine that if the British Isles was threatened Ukraine would offer to help us out ? Of course not!!!

The dispute between Russia and Ukraine threatens the military expansion of NATO and one state that happens to be in Europe. It poses absolutely no threat to Western Europe least of all the British Isles.

If we can't afford to fund the NHS we certainly cannot afford yet another reckless military adventure!!

Not everybody who opposes war with Russia over Ukraine is a Kremlin troll, despite claims to the contrary by some of our “guests.” I myself oppose such a war.

But you on the other hand probably are a Kremlin troll, given your username, your tone, your punctuation patterns, and your insertion of many different (and sometimes conflicting) arguments in such a short post. And also your bizarre invocations of British domestic politics, despite the fact that this is an American forum owned by an American and almost certainly mostly populated by Americans.

My suggestion is that you go get a real job. You’ll probably be paid more for your next line of work; while non-trolls like myself who can actually give legitimate reasons not to go to war do a better job than you at persuading people, and for free.

I'm betting on the next two weeks.
If you get this one I'll laugh and send you a nice whiskey.
I don't drink.

It will be the end of the world, and I'll feel fine.
Good job, REM

You can't afford NHS and never have been able to (in the socialist sense), but I get your drift. You are correct.

This Ukraine crap is total propaganda. Remember when the West/NATO created that BS "protest" to cause instability over the elected leader of Ukraine (of course he was closer to Russia) and the Sec of State aid as caught on a recorded call admitting that it was a fake and created protest to cause a coup of the elected leader?

And all the rest of you guys talk about Putin and how bad Russia is?

The swamp is using Biden's incompetence against him, and trying to distract from what's really going on: American decline and degradation through imbecile politicians and the disgusting bureaucrats of Washington who care little to nothing about anything but money and power.

EXAMPLES OF GOOD, BAD, AND TROLL ARGUMENTS (AGAINST GOING TO WAR)

GOOD ARGUMENTS
=======================
-It's not in our national interests, ***identifies what our national interests are***.
-We can't win, ***identifies reasons why***.
-Intervention will only further destabilize the region.
-We need to be courting Russia as an ally against China and radical Islam. Putin may be an SOB, but he can be our SOB.
-Russia has nukes. I don't want to die.
-The only reason the US government wants war is because of Heartland Theory. We need to stop being obsessed with maintaining a unipolar world.

BAD/POSSIBLE TROLL ARGUMENTS
=======================
-It's not in our national interests, ***fails to identify what our national interests are***.
-We can't win, ***fails to identify a reason why***.
-Ukraine is the aggressor.
-Any argument which invokes ethnic or religious hatred.
-Any argument which invokes "globalism" or "globohomo."
-Any argument which invokes "Eurasian integration."

OBVIOUS TROLL ARGUMENTS
=======================
-Crimea was Russian before the Soviet government gave it to Ukraine; Russia must correct this historic wrong!
-Ukraine's government is literally run by Nazis!
-Any argument which invokes other, irrelevant territorial disputes (examples: Kashmir, Kosovo, Israel-Palestine, Taiwan, etc.).
-Any argument which is rooted in non-sequiturs (example: invoking the UK's domestic politics when addressing American forum users).

** 25-Jan-2022 To do

That's grammatically incorrect. You mean "thou doth."

Present affirmative tense conjugation of "to do":
I do
Thou doth
He,she,it does,doest
We do
You,ye do
They do

The Ukrainian government is now saying that a Russian invasion is NOT imminent, despite Biden's claims to the contrary.
