As someone who travels half the year the most universally disliked tourists are:

- French
In that order too.

A load of Russians popped up one year in the Spanish resort we used to visit. They ate like pigs and trashed the dining room. We never went back.

Russians are the worst. No manners, no education,no morals, no conscience, can't communicate in any language. In Courchevel, you can't even go down a slope comfortably- it's full of comical looking Russian women, just standing in a middle of a slope, making selfies. And if you hit one accidentally- it will be your fault. Avoid places with Russians as much as you can- they are absolute scum.

Medvedev spoke to the media with a studied indifference. He seemed to be speaking to the general public more than anyone else. Perhaps he will be right, but many commentators are unsure. The invasions of Chechnya and Georgia were allowed for some reason, but Ukraine appears to be a different situation. Russia may have bitten off far more than it can chew.

Right now it appears that the actual military offensive is limited to the Donbass region, and that a full-scale invasion isn't happening (just yet). The explosions which have occurred outside the region appear to be isolated incidents.

A maritime attack? Then I take back what I said two posts ago. This IS a wider theater than just the Donbass.

Putin's comments about "demilitarization" and "denazification" of the entire country Ukraine should erase all doubts about what's happening.

This IS the beginning of a full-scale invasion, the mission IS to push all the way to Kiev, and the goal IS regime change.
