I'd like to thank tim, Navigator, Xeraphim1, MrGuest, DaKardii,
Trevor, spottybrowncow, Guest, Tom Mazanec, Lightbulb, thinker, and
even the obnoxious Cool Breeze, for all your comments.

Moments like this present me with a problem. I want to feel sorry for
myself because I'm miserable, depressed, in intermitten pain, alone,
surviving on Social Security, disgusted with the Cassandra Curse, and
I have no apparent function in life anymore except moderating this
forum.

However, I have to say that reading all your wonderful messages -- and
they really are wonderful -- I more fully appreciate that my one
remaining function in life, moderating this forum, may be more
important than I imagined. There's some sort of cosmic force going
on, that I don't understand, that's telling me that I'm doing
something unique and I have to go on for a while longer, at least
until WW III begins.

A couple of people suggested that I'm creating some kind of legacy
that will last forever. I have to disagree. The Cassandra Curse is
very powerful. Generational Dynamics will die with me. Upton
Sinclair said, "It is difficult to get a man to understand something
when his salary depends upon his not understanding it." Nobody's
salary depends on understanding Generational Dynamics.

I published four books, thinking that they would create some sort of
legacy that would survive me. And they're really good books, in my
opinion. I'm really proud of them. You would think by this time,
they would have generated some interest somewhere, but they haven't.
I've only sold a few dozen copies of each.

After I'm gone, very few people will even remember Generational
Dynamics, and many of them will remember it only with scorn and
derision as the invention of an old Boomer fossil. There will be
nobody whose selary depends on keeping Generation Dynamics alive, so
it will die.

Russia's Ministry of Enlightenment announced it will stream an 'All-Russian Open Lesson' on why “the liberation mission in Ukraine is a necessity” on Mar. 3 at 12 pm Moscow time.

The command of Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces has warned that it will kill captured Russian artillerymen in response to their “brutal shelling” of civilians and cities.

John, almost all of us will be forgotten eventually. Think back to 100, 200, 500 years. How many people are actually remembered or thought about today? And of those who are remembered how many are remembered for positive contributions? Of all of the famous actors of the 19th century the only one anyone knows about is the one who murdered a president. And who do people pay attention to today? Blowhards on Twitter with hundreds of thousands of followers who rant and rave about nonsense that only divides and distracts people from reality - and all trace of that digital noise will eventually just disappear in a blip. Your impact may not be as large as theirs, but it is very real even if you can't see it directly. I found your site over 20 years ago from a comment you posted on TechCentralStation and it completely changed my way of looking at the world. I've discussed generational theory with many people over the years (I believe I'm, somewhat indirectly, responsible for you getting a wider audience with Brietbart). I was a high school history teacher for several years and taught students about your framework and even assigned some of your articles as reading. I'd like to think that this had some impact on them, but as a teacher I have to accept that I probably won't know exactly what my impact was. For all we know I transmitted some information that I learned from you to a student that will lead that student to take steps to save lives - maybe it contributed to them going into a field that will save lives. We really don't know the impact of our actions. Look, I'm a relative nobody (with no aspirations to be an anybody), but just in writing this to you I'm considering the impact I've had without even trying.

I'm absolutely certain that your work has and will save/improve lives. Even if your predictions don't all come true (and let's still hope they don't ) you've encouraged realistic and fruitful thought and discussion. I think the curse of your work is more that you're less likely to directly see your impact because it doesn't make people warm and fuzzy, but that doesn't mean the impact isn't real. I've gone several months - maybe even more than a year at times - between checking in on this forum, but that doesn't mean that your warnings were not in mind as I followed events and observed the break down of society. And who knows, it's very possible that when the smoke clears from this crisis era your writings could very well help inform historians who seek to understand it. Talk about the Fourth Turning is becoming almost mainstream in some circles - I see casual references to generational cycles all the time now. People didn't want to study GD because they didn't want to think about it. But once it does come true then it will be a key lens through which to explain events. It's absolutely crucial that your work is preserved because people need to know what you did to greatly expanded on the work of Strauss and Howe (one of the main critiques I see of their work is that it's focus is too limited - YOU are THE person who addressed this).

But, again, even if your impact is limited to a small group of people who follow this forum and their loved ones I think that is still something to be proud of.

John you may be right. The Cassandra Curse may be strong and you may be forgotten by history. I’ve learned that you are very smart man. So you might be right. But personally I don’t think you’ll be forgotten. At least you won’t be forgotten by me.

You might end up like Vincent Van Gogh. He struggled with depression. He left behind some beautiful and valuable art but they say he was only able to sell one painting in his lifetime. Sad.
I have to wonder who had the good sense to buy that one painting.

Galileo wasn’t well thought of during his lifetime. But he was right. His work lived on. It is appreciated much more now than it was when he first published it.

I have all your books. I’ve read them more than once. I think your work is unique and important.
My interactions with you, although brief, have shown me you are generous with your time and knowledge. This is, in my opinion, a wonderful quality. Which sadly seems to be getting rarer and rarer.

I have to think that being in pain, living on a meager income, self pity, depression and being in the winter of life need to be considered. These things can and do effect the thinking of even the best of us. If I could make you a rich, happy and pain free man I’d do it in a minute. I’m sure there are others here on the forum who would do the same if they could. But that’s not how life works.

I very much appreciate the forum you provide and those who comment here. I find the interchange of ideas between yourself and the others very enlightening. You, and those who comment here, allow me to see things that would have never occurred to me. I understand world events better and I’m not afraid anymore. I have a pretty good idea of what might go down and, as they say, forewarned is forearmed.

When you are gone, and I hope it is not anytime soon. You will be missed. You are irreplaceable. I’m confident someday your work will be recognized by a greater audience that it has now. Sometimes the human race needs a seculum to recognize great work.

I’m an optimist. Sometimes a realist. And I don’t have any Bee Gee’s lyrics to sum things up with. So I’ll leave you with this.

No matter how bad your life may seem remember that someone else has to clean the bathroom at Taco Bell.
