John here is the latest update: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5tilAZLZ4Q
BLUF: Slow advance, lots of gaslighting, Russians are operating on their doctrine – not to our standards.
My analysis is that the Russians are shifting units and logistics to optimize for future operations: the sacking of Kyiv. The Russian leadership does not care about Western or civilian Russian opinion, they want victory at any cost and will take a Pyrrhic victory. As the old saying goes “a win is still a win, how every ugly it is.”
I told a few people that all the press and social media postings of Ukrainians holding the line is for some in the West is a way to assuage guilt for not helping more and living vicariously through the brave actions of those who are.
A few fellow soldiers told me to take off the tin foil when the Russians attacked Georgia and I said Ukraine was next. Syria was a finishing school or graduating “live fire exercise.” Any former Warsaw Pact or country that was in the orbit (Moldavia, the ‘stans…) of the Soviet Union will be next for Russian military or technical operations.
Those who say the Chinese and Russians will be next on the boxing card forgot that they have already done this one (https://www.19fortyfive.com/2021/10/for ... r-in-1969/ ) and the Russians have shifted forces to cover this. Iskanders have been on station along the Sino-Russian border. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3l6Cf46fAs The PLA is doubtful in my eyes due to being a conscript military and is notoriously corrupt. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NuNpDQXglQA. The PLA is a cherry force made up of princes and not noted for expeditionary operations that the Vietnamese Army can attest to. Chinese mothers of the sons in the PLA would be pissed off if the PLA marched north and the CCP would not be happy unleashing the PAP on mothers kneeling on the street protesting.

Right behind them, the second-worst people, are people like you and
Cool Breeze, the people who are supporting the criminals -- the
enablers, the excusers, the deniers, the collaborators, the acolytes
and the trolls -- the people who defend the war criminals and make the
actions of Hitler, Mao, Stalin, al-Assad and Putin possible. These
are the people that make genocide and war crimes possible, and they
are as much to blame as the war criminals themselves.
@John
Thanks for that nice personal attack on me, really appreciate it. I’ve posted 3 times since the Russian/Ukraine conflict started:
1. Dem socialists of America blaming America for Russian invasion
2. That I feel bad for the Ukranian people and the poor Russian teens that were lied to and thrown into the meat grinder by Putin
3. The post you quoted
I’ll take a pass at a personal attack and ask you to please explain/show where I have supported genocide, war crimes, etc. You’ve taken my criticism of your generation and it’s role in the shaping of the USA so personally I have no idea why.

Here is the primer on the Russian way of waging war. Remember they will soak up casualties like mad, unlike NATO. http://fieldgradeleader.themilitarylead ... System.pdf
Re: Generational Dynamics World View News
In Russia, as many have pointed out, the mentality is very different. Russians are petty, vindictive, and mean spirited. In Russia, if you have a nice house and your neighbor has a crappy one, he will burn yours down. That's an actually line of thought. Ponder that.
Re: Generational Dynamics World View News
Yes, human life is cheap in Russia, but not many young Russians are being born lately and many young ethnic Russians are drug addicts or alcoholic (or born to addict mothers) and are unfit for military service. Look at all of the Asian and non-Russian soldiers being captured and killed in Ukraine. The average ethnic Russian usually has one child, if any. Ethnic Russians have a demographic that is on par or worse than the Japanese. Russia distorts its demographics all the time. There are more elderly Russians than teenagers in Russia.utahbob wrote: ↑Thu Mar 03, 2022 8:10 pmHere is the primer on the Russian way of waging war. It seems like half the soldiers being captured or killed in Ukraine are from Dagestan or former deer herding teenage Buryats (Mongols) from Lake Baikal. How long will those communities continue to see their sons die for Russia?
Yes, in WW2, the Russians were careless with the lives of their people, but that can't spare that many now. And will ethnic Russians endure losing their only son?
Re: Generational Dynamics World View News
I've mentioned Generational Dynamics to others and my impression is that a lot of people don't want to listen because it's just too terrifying. Sure, there's politics involved as well, but the final conclusion isn't one anyone wants to think about. I still hope it's wrong, even if I don't find it very likely. Much easier to worry about climate change, which may or may not happen in a few decades, especially since it's something you can use to demonize your political opponents.
It's how Hitler got away with his actions for as long as he did. Britain and France could have easily stopped him in 1935, 1936, 1938, and possibly even 1939. However, they didn't because they couldn't believe anyone would want to go through another world war, given the enormous losses whose memories were still fresh.
I've heard discussion of war from many sources, but almost all operate under the assumption that it could happen by miscalculation. It doesn't occur to them that China or Russia would want a war with us, want to grind us underneath their boot. Putin was open about his goals for more than a decade but he wasn't taken seriously.

Fire rages at massive Ukrainian nuclear plant after Russians unleash
attack
Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant was ablaze after Russian
forces shelled the key power station on Friday morning, according to a
plant spokesperson and video footage.
One Ukrainian official warned if the plant in Enerhodar were to blow
up it would cause a disaster “10 times larger than Chernobyl.”
Zaporizhzhia is the largest nuclear plant in Europe and generates a
quarter of the nation’s electricity. One of its six reactors was on
fire after the shelling, a plant spokesman said, adding that it was
not operating but contained nuclear fuel.
Firefighters could not access the scene of the potential catastrophic
disaster because they were under attack from Russian troops that
stormed Enerhodar, a city of 53,000 located about 400 miles southwest
of Kyiv.
