Luftwaffe is set to buy up to 35 F-35 fighter jets and a further 15 Eurofighter jets
France must be pissed. Buying F-35s reduces the need for FCAS which has been having problems with allocation of work. Who didn't see that happen when Dassault is involved?

** 14-Mar-2022 World View: GPS

The GPS system is run by the military, and the military can control it
in various ways -- disabling it completely, making it much less
precise, etc. Russia has its own GPS system, but apparently it's
subject to being jammed.

‘Local’ Russian GPS jamming in Ukraine hasn’t affected US support ops, so far
The Pentagon doesn't believe Russia has fully unleashed its
significant electronic warfare capabilities, a senior defense official
said.

Russia expected to ditch GLONASS for Loran in Ukraine invasion
February 17, 2022 - By Tracy Cozzens
Russian military doctrine assumes GLONASS and other GNSS will not be
available once a battle begins, so will instead turn to Loran-C for
navigation

There were photos of Russian attack aircraft in Syria with a Garmin GPS duct taped to the instrument panel.

Among the assistance Russia requested was pre-packaged, non-perishable military food kits, known in the US as "meal, ready-to-eat," or MREs, according to two sources familiar with the matter. The request underscores the basic logistical challenges that military analysts and officials say have stymied Russian progress in Ukraine -- and raises questions about the fundamental readiness of the Russian military.

Forward-deployed units have routinely outstripped their supply convoys and open source reports have shown Russian troops breaking into grocery stores in search of food as the invasion has progressed. One of the sources suggested that food might be a request that China would be willing to meet, because it stops short of lethal assistance that would be seen as deeply provocative by the west.
WTF? How do you forget to send food? I mean you have to feed your troops every day? Russia is looking more incompetent every day. Without nuclear weapons who would be scared of Russia?

By one account, Russia does logistics by higher up planning rather than what the forces in the field say is needed. Thus, ammunition is getting the priority.

And the Russians are so low on ammo that they are buying it from the Chinese. Some priority.

The Daily Mail reported today that the Russians might be down to only 14 days of ammunition.

Russian forces are no longer just picking off targets on the outskirts of Kyiv, but are now hitting commercial and residential centers in the city. Meanwhile, three Prime Ministers from Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovenia are going to Kyiv on Tuesday to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in a sign of solidarity. NBC’s Richard Engel reports for TODAY.

BATTLE OF WILLS Russians ‘could buckle in 10 DAYS’ as Ukraine claims to have killed 13,500 troops and destroyed hundreds of tanks & jets
VLADIMIR Putin could only have ten days to win the war in Ukraine before his forces buckle, defence experts have claimed.
Now both a senior UK defence source and the former commander of US forces say the game could soon be up for Russia.

“Ukraine has Russia on the run,” the source told the Daily Mail.

“It is running out of manpower and running out of energy. As long as we keep pressing they've got ten to 14 days before reaching their culminating point.

“That's when the strength of Ukraine's resistance should become greater than Russia's attacking force.”

Meanwhile, retired US army General Ben Hodges has predicted Russian forces will be unable to continue their assault on Ukraine 10 days from now – if Ukraine can hold out that long.

The former commander of United States Army Europe for three years highlighted three key deficiencies holding back the Russian military.

🔵 Read our Russia - Ukraine live blog for the very latest updates

“Russia’s decision to transition to a war of attrition – they’re smashing cities, putting civilians on the road because of fear of being murdered – they need three things to do this,” Gen Hodges told MSNBC.

“And they don’t have those three things. They don’t have the time, they don’t have the manpower, and I don’t think they have the ammunition.

"That means they won’t be able to continue the attack."

What does Navigator think of all this? He said NATO was hollowed out (which I agree with), but how did he get the true strength of the Russian army so wrong? Why did most get it so wrong?

I wonder how strong (or weak) China actually is?

Will this STOP China from attacking Taiwan this year? Perhaps the Shanghai Clique (lead by a former Chinese Prsident) can topple Xi after all?
