You break the law, you are charged with a crime, and you go to trial. I used to work in a court house. That was how it worked when I was there. Pre-trial detention was the norm. Prison overcrowding meant people, yet to be convicted of anything, were kept in overcrowded cells. And some did far less than storm the Capital.

I am tired of hearing Russians say, "We survived the 90s. We can survive anything.'

That's not what happened. During the 90s,the collapse of Communism left many Russians literally starving to death. It was America and Western Europe that donated massive amounts of food, clothing, and medicine to keep the Russians alive. All the talk of living off of small garden plots is a lie. The young in Russia have been taught to believe that Russia endured hardship alone and that they can do it again. The Russians didn't do it alone and they won't be able to now. I clearly remember the massive level donations that went on throughout the 1990s that flooded Russia with food. That's how the Russians survived: on American handouts. I was there.

This time there will be no help.

I hope Putin lives for years more. I want the Russians to suffer pariah status for decades. This time, unlike the USSR, they will have a collapsing demographic, piss poor governance, and barely functioning medical system. The Russians can be a vassal state to China and sell what is ever left of Russia to them, including their women.
