Texas governor Abbott is sending buses of illegal migrants to Chicago. Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot is calling Abbott's policy racist, but she doesn't explain how it's racist.
but the explanation is obvious. blacks hate latinos.

Bussing around the problem...
I'll leave the racist issue alone for the moment, but I would feel better if he were distributing the problem of poor and disenfranchised people around evenly. In choosing cities like Chicago, Washington and New York City, he is targeting blue cities. Now, the problem should be spread around, but not on that basis. There is a reason so much friction is coming these days from Texas and Arizona. Just from where they are located they have a problem other states do not have.
Does anyone want and need population?
Boston tried bussing students around a while ago. Didn't work that cleanly.

Actually, this is one of the most brilliant political moves ever made, and I don't think the feds can do anything to stop it, because the illegal aliens actually want to go to these big blue "welcome centers," rather than stay in Podunk, TX. I don't see it stopping until the border is closed. They will certainly never run out of funding. Texans (and normal people from all over the country) will open up their pockets and give generously to continue this program, if asked. Yup. And it shows how anti-American and hateful Bobby B is of his own country. He cares more about other people than his own fellow countrymen. So his political party can win more, and act like they feel good about themselves, while also demonizing their own fellow citizens (who they wanted to bear the costs for their folly, as usual). This is the classic example of why America is failing, and the perpetrators can't even admit they are causing the destruction due to their illegal activities and policies. Rather, they rejoice in them and then also call you names like racist, which don't even make sense anymore, even if they weren't total lies.spottybrowncow wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 7:17 amActually, this is one of the most brilliant political moves ever made, and I don't think the feds can do anything to stop it, because the illegal aliens actually want to go to these big blue "welcome centers," rather than stay in Podunk, TX. Re: Bussing around the problem...
The fun part is that if the Feds do anything at all at the local level to assist these "sanctuary" cities, it will create precedent. If they pay the cities or states, the border states have standing to pursue payment for all the people they have handled. Depending on what law they attach the payments to the statue of limitations could go back years, increasing the awards exponentially. If they start taking control of the folks being dropped off, the "sanctuary" policies in each city can be destroyed at a legal and rhetorical level. All the cities can do is absorb these folks, and by proxy their share of the costs they helped create with their policies, or return to the rule of law and give up their bullshit.spottybrowncow wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 7:17 amActually, this is one of the most brilliant political moves ever made, and I don't think the feds can do anything to stop it, because the illegal aliens actually want to go to these big blue "welcome centers," rather than stay in Podunk, TX. I am willing to place a large bet on the current city leaders spending all the money they can, passing the cost onto the local taxpayers, and trying to gin up happy feelings as cover.
To be fair, the best response that I can formulate to that strategy, would be continuing the busses.

according to a report on Friday on the BBC world news, social unrest is increasing in many countries around the world, at the same time.
the report is based on data collected by a British analyst firm, verisk maplecroft.
The firm has been collecting data for 7 years, and has found that global social unrest has been increasing steadily throughout that period. this is what we would expect during a generational crisis era.

Re: Generational Dynamics World View News
I think food shortages are one reason for the global social unrest. So how about another shortage to add to the growing list. TOMATOES! The US is third or fourth in supplying tomatoes to the world, depending on the year you look at. Guess who grows more than anybody? China. Then India. At the top of the US supply is California. California's tomato crops are drying up this year from lack of water and production is way down. We import a lot of tomatoes from Mexico and Canada. But when the world's supply decreases, the price goes up. That means your pizza sauce, salsa, soup, veggie juice and ketchup are the next items to cost your arm and leg at the grocery store. Look around your kitchen for foods that you eat that have tomatoes in them. Stock up a little now and save some pain at the grocery store this winter. Be sure to check the expiration dates. With the acidity in tomato products, they don't last much past the "best by" dates.
With tomatoes in mind, here is a good soup to make when the power goes out on a cold day. You can heat this on your grill or propane stove. To get low heat and high heat on a charcoal grill, move the pot to the area of the grill with the fire under it or to the side of the fire. Most of these main ingredients are in a can. Every year I prepare a bag with all of these cans, the spices pre-mixed in a zip baggie and the rice pre-measured into another zip baggie. It is a Godsend if the power goes out to have a home made dinner and an easy meal at the end of season if it doesn't. Don't forget to have a hand crank style can opener at the ready.
Seafood Gumbo Soup
*Melt a tablespoon of butter (or warm a tablespoon of oil) in a large pot on low heat.
*Add some bacon bits, a teaspoon of old bay seasoning, a teaspoon of Cajun seasoning, a teaspoon of garlic powder, 2 bay leaves, and 2 chicken bouillon cubes. Stir it up.
*Pour a 5 oz. can of tuna in water, the tuna and the water, into the pot.
*Add a cup of water. Stir it up until the bouillon cubes dissolve.
*Add a 14-16 oz. can of petite diced tomatoes.
*Add a 14-16 oz. can of okra. Stir it up and smash the okra against the side of the pot with your spoon to release the seeds. The seeds are a thickening agent. This also releases the flavor of the okra better. It should start to thicken the soup as you smash it. Stir and smash until most of the okra is broken up and you can tell it is thicker.
*Add 1/2 cup water and turn the heat up enough to bring it to a boil.
*Add 1/2 cup instant rice, cover pot, and reduce heat to simmer for at least 10 minutes. You can simmer longer and the flavors blend better, but be sure to check if you need to add more water.
*Add 2 6 oz. cans of shrimp. These are tiny shrimp. I usually drain the water from the shrimp because the brand I use says to. If it doesn't say to drain, you don't have to.
*Let the shrimp simmer in the soup for about 5 minutes, but not much longer than that. Serve with crackers.
