I found this to be a really interesting article on technological infrastructure monopolies, and in looking over the forum threads, I think this is probably the best place to post the link:

The author touches upon how content should / should not be moderated towards the end. Obviously, there is a lot of need for discussion, and a lot of room for disagreement, but what we have at this moment should not be hard to beat.

SBF admitted masquerading as 'woke
Westerner'

In a new interview, Bankman-Fried
confessed that he used his virtuous
stances as a front to win the game.

Vox reporter Kelsey Piper – who
interviewed Bankman-Fried through direct
messages on Twitter – said to the former
FTX CEO, "You were really good at
talking about ethics for someone who
kind of saw it all as a game with
winners and losers."

SBF responded, "Ya, hehe. I had to be,
it's what reputations are made of, to
some extent. I feel bad for those who
get f***ed by it. By this dumb game we
woke westerners play where we say all
the right shiboleths [sic] so everyone
likes us."

When asked if his "ethics stuff" was
"mostly a front," SBF replied, "Yeah. I
mean that's not all of it but it's a
lot."

In the summer, SBF said that companies
should not engage in unethical
practices. However, when pressed by the
Vox reporter, he admitted, "Man all the
dumb s**t I said."

Speaking about investors focusing on
Environmental, Social, and Governance
(ESG), he declared, "ESG has been
perverted beyond recognition."

SBF exclaimed, "F*** regulators. They
make everything worse. They don't
protect customers at all."

Bankman-Fried said it was "never the
intention" to squander away investors'
money, but "sometimes life creeps up on
you."

"I f**ed up big multiple times," he
added.

SBF said his biggest regret was FTX
filing for bankruptcy. He believes that
"everything would be 70% fixed right
now" if he hadn't declared
bankruptcy. He calls the bankruptcy his
"biggest single f***up."

Bankman-Fried said if he could do it all
over again, he would have "more careful
accounting" and separated his hedge fund
Alameda Research from FTX.

Provide the Ukrainians with the wherewithal to inflict similar damage to Russian cities near Ukraine. How can it be that Russia has the de facto right to target the civilian power infrastructure with the objective of rendering living conditions intolerable in the approaching harsh winter? Honestly, no. The people in the country and in certain states are so nice and so naive. We are looking at a "Bolsheviks genociding the kulaks" type situation with the way liberals view and talk about ruralites.

As I mentioned in the post about blue staters, they are so ignorant and yet so self-assured and smug. They already lose no sleep over imposing their will on normal people, and I can't imagine it would bother them at all to see "backwards hicks" systemically brutalized by the government.

Just look at the Jan 6 hoax. The way those people are being treated is a microcosm of how shitlibs and the security state would love to treat your average Republican voter.

I just took a 30 hour drive across the whole country, and it is remarkable how different people are from state to state and from region to region within states. Leaving any major city and venturing into the countryside is like entering an entirely different world. The main common denominator is that the people are a lot nicer the further you get from major metro areas, but other than that, each state has unique culture of its own.

The only places that are indistinguishable in a "no real culture" kind of way? The mishmashed cities themselves.

I knew all that already, having lived in several different parts of the country, but a long road trip illustrates it in a whole different way.
