Police have completely withdrawn from London streets. Greggs is one local example of how our environment has permanently changed. They used to have their food on display and you brought it to the counter. No one dreamed of stealing. But now they've had to shut down as black people just steal the food on display. What's more, for the American the wages haven't kept up with inflation. If you look at the great depression and the median wages at the time, compared to the median house cost, it's several multiples less than it is now - and that's in 1932. Most people are totally unaware of this reality. As you know, I went to a professional school, but that will only be good for a few more years before they slash those payments. They haven't kept up with inflation for years, and it's not like any of the more important life acquisitions or costs haven't skyrocketed in the last several decades.

From what I've seen, it was in Houston during the 1980s. Some might argue it was earlier. For example, housing built in the 1920s had a lot of real hardwood in it including douglas fir studs and porch decking, and cedar siding, which was no longer used by the 1980s, and all of which is still serviceable today and will be for decades and longer if taken care of properly. Peak quality was certainly not anytime since the year 2000.

Overall, new housing square footage has about doubled since 1932. I can't find data going back quite that far. But it's clear that since the Heros and Silents were purchasing houses in the 1940s and 1950s, even with a baby boom going on, that what Americans define as the required size of a single family home has increased dramatically with their accumulation of the junk of Western Industrial Civilization, and costs have increased accordingly. Good grief, who had 2 or even 3 garages in 1932 and housing square footage doesn't even account for this, it just accounts for living space.

I am finding it is technically incorrect to say douglas fir is a hardwood, but when you work with it you will see the clear difference between douglas fir and the soft pine typically used today.

ABOUT DOUGLAS FIR

Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) is hearty and can grow in a variety of conditions, from sea level to high elevations. This makes it a readily available choice for many locals looking to find lumber in their area.

As an evergreen tree, the living specimen keeps its leaves, more commonly known as needles, year-round. Its seeds are stored in cones before they are pollinated and distributed by the wind.

Local inland Douglas fir in Montana generally reaches heights between 100 and 120 feet, whereas the coastal Douglas fir commonly reaches 150 feet. This is due to the colder climate of the Inland Northwest, leading to an overall slower growing season. However, while the slow growth of inland Douglas fir makes it difficult to cut those larger pieces of lumber and timber, the tight grain is said to create a stronger, sturdier piece of lumber.

The unique grain patterns and swirls of Douglas fir can be quite striking, but in general, this species offers a traditional look that brings to mind cabins and woodsy settings. Tight knots add to this cozy feeling.

The color ranges from the white-to-yellow hue that is typical of the sapwood and a darker, reddish-brown that makes up the heartwood. This range of warm tones brings a natural, cozy look to a wide array of different building projects.

FEEL

While Douglas fir is classified as softwood, that doesn't necessarily mean it feels soft to the touch or lacks durability. In fact, some softwoods are actually harder than certain hardwoods. Put simply; softwoods are conifers—cone-bearing trees—while hardwoods are flowering or fruit-bearing trees. Classifications aside, you don't need to worry about Douglas fir being too soft for your project.

DURABILITY

Douglas fir is the highest-rated North American softwood in strength-to-weight ratio and stiffness, making it an ideal building material for both interiors and exteriors. It is also durable, with the heartwood being particularly rot-resistant. Douglas fir is also less susceptible to shrinkage than many other species and is resistant to fungus and insect infestation.

People are turning to personality tests to make hiring decisions in the Lottery Economy. This article describes a personality test being used in London, but, according to the article, basing hiring decisions on personality tests has become common practice across the Western World.

A few months ago, a bright, chatty fellow named John walked out of a midweight marketing company’s offices in London, pretty sure he’d gotten the job. He’d been told the interview would last an hour at most, but they’d kept him there for two. “It was an informal chat until they got to the personality test,” says John, recalling that instead of the usual interview topics, such as his previous experience and relevant skills, discussion had zeroed in on the results of a psychometric questionnaire he’d been asked to complete prior to coming in. “It really felt like, ‘Wow, they love this test. They really believe in everything it says.’”

On being handed his results, John raised an eyebrow at the fact that, according to the test publisher’s blurb at the top, it had color-coded his personality according to the “four humors,” the bodily fluids — yellow bile, black bile, blood and phlegm — that Ancient Greek medical theory held as responsible for regulating both people’s physical health and the underlying aspects of character, or “temperaments.” “They said, ‘What we’re looking for is this…’” says John, “and what they showed me were these four colors together where they were all pretty balanced. They said, ‘Do you want to see yours?’ All of mine were balanced apart from red, which was through the roof.” Red, in this system, stood for a cluster of related personality traits that included aggression and competitiveness. This readout, explained the hiring panel, indicated, “You don’t mind treading on other people’s toes in order to gain success.”

Which John took to be a slam-dunk: The vacancy was for a senior salesperson. A competitive nature would be a strong asset when it came to closing deals, he ventured. “Actually, it’s a bit of a mix in our sales team,” came the reply. “Some of them have a little bit higher, but yours is as close to being off the scale as it could be.”

The next day the recruiter called to give him the bad news: “They thought that your ability within the sector and your sales experience would be great, but they felt that where you fell down was your personality test.” John’s first response was to burst out laughing. In the room it had “felt very cult-y,” he says. “They told me, ‘We’ve all done the test ourselves, and we find it 98 percent accurate.’”

It's time to admit these people have outstayed their welcome.

They have no "right" to be here other than at some point in time some politicians decided to allow them entry. I see no reason why that decision can't be reversed - especially for those who offend (both our laws and our society). In any other scenario if a guest outstays their welcome the sensible thing to do is to send them packing.

Our qualities such as generosity and tolerance have been abused, that's not our fault so we should feel no remorse about rescinding the invitation that was once made (without our consultation or consent it should be remembered).

Peckham protests illustrate the redundancy of ‘Bame’
Tensions between non-white minorities have been persistently ignored

Following footage circulating online of a black woman accused of theft being physically restrained by a male Asian-heritage shopkeeper in the south-east London district of Peckham, the matter of community cohesion in England’s diverse inner cities has once again been thrust into the spotlight.

Tense community relations between elements of Britain’s wider Asian and black populations are nothing new. The 2005 Birmingham riots — specifically in the relatively deprived Lozells and Handsworth areas — were primarily between people of Pakistani origin and Black Caribbean heritage. The riots were sparked following rumours that a teenage black girl had allegedly been gang-raped by a group of Pakistani-heritage men in a beauty parlour. The unsubstantiated whispers were presented as fact by two pirate radio stations, contributing towards a major escalation. The riots were connected to two fatalities: 23-year-old Isaiah Young-Sam and teenager Aaron James.

However, much like south-east London in the present, there were simmering tensions between Asian-origin business owners and local black residents in Birmingham. The acquisition of many local businesses by Asian-origin entrepreneurs had reportedly unsettled members of African-Caribbean communities, and this was exacerbated by complaints of mistreatment against Asian-heritage business owners by black customers. Those who ran the enterprises responded by accusing members of the African-Caribbean community of envy for their socioeconomic progress and ownership of assets. More serious allegations included theft, with one Pakistani-heritage shopkeeper referring to black people as “the lowest of the low”.

Fast forward to September 2023 and virtually identical dynamics have taken root in south-east London — racial friction based on socioeconomic status and business ownership, a breakdown of shopkeeper-customer relations along ethnic lines, and a fundamental lack of neighbourhood policing enforcement to maintain public order. In places such as Peckham, the local black population comfortably outnumbers the Asian one, yet a significant number of small-to-medium-sized enterprises which cater to the former, wider demographic are owned by the latter.

Social interactions which could optimistically be viewed as opportunities to build trust and mutual respect between groups have instead been rendered toxic by an intensifying competition of resources, ethnic prejudice, and growing business-customer resentment. This is worsened by the absence of a well-respected model of neighbourhood policing which covers areas with a high concentration of street shops.

The latest events in Peckham highlight the utterly redundant nature of the “Bame” acronym, which tends to mask the reality that some of the sharpest social fault lines in modern Britain do not involve the white-British mainstream at all. A report published in August 2020 by Hope Not Hate found that twice as many so-called “Bame” respondents agreed (40%) than disagreed that there is more tension between Britain’s minority communities, when compared with those between white and non-white populations.

This was followed by a February 2021 HJS-ICM study which found that black British respondents were more likely to have an unfavourable view of Pakistani-, Bangladeshi-, and Indian-heritage people (11.2%, 11.1%, and 8.7% respectively) than white Britons (7.9%).

While apparently progressive politicians in the inner cities continue to repeat empty platitudes such as “diversity is our strength”, the failure to integrate ethnically diverse communities carries significant risks to public order. This threat is further complicated by ethnic differences in socio-economic status and the de facto decriminalisation of low-level crime in many urban areas.

Social and economic tensions in Peckham between non-white communities does not constitute a recent phenomenon. Rather, these serve as yet another reminder of the complexities of modern Britain and the fact that diversity is by no means an unadulterated good. As it stands, far too many in positions of national and local leadership are sleeping at the wheel.

Several journalists in the UK have blamed (and I kid you not) 'White Supremacy' for the violence between blacks and Pakistanis/Indians (which are called 'Asians in the UK).

This is where the real violence is already erupting. In England its blacks vs. Indians, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Koreans, Chinese, Eastern Europeans, etc.

In America its blacks fighting with every race except for white liberals (which blacks happily victimize).
