The overall US birth rate has been holding steady for several quarters since the effects of covid caused a large decline in early 2021, so I haven't been posting it. However, the breakdown of the data shows that the under age 25 birth rates continue to fall while the over age 25 birth rates have risen to make up that shortfall, especially the 35-39 age group.

The key point in the repeat of the data below is: "These two sets of data show that there is virtually nobody with any financial means under the age of 25 giving birth in America today." Eyeballing the data below, it can be calculated that about 8 percent of the births in the United States are to women under age 25 who are not on Medicaid. That's a pretty sobering statistic. It corroborates the fact that there are virtually no jobs in the United States available to support young families.

Why Are Testosterone Levels Decreasing?
Lifestyle choices are often a contributing factor for low-T

When it comes to testosterone levels, odds are you don’t measure up to your father.

Studies show that age-specific testosterone levels in men have been in a slow and consistent decline for several decades. Researchers call the changes “alarming” from an evolutionary point of view.

It’s normal for testosterone levels to decline as people age. The average drop is about 1% per year after age 30.

But ongoing research shows decreases that are unrelated to aging. These studies compare people of the same age in different years. (For example, a 45-year-old man in 1987, 1995 and 2002.)

“So, we’re consistently seeing testosterone levels lower than we’d expect ­because of excessive weight and related health conditions — and that is alarming from a long-term perspective,” says Dr. Pantalone.

But while there’s a downward trend in age-specific testosterone levels, averages haven’t fallen to the point where they’re in the “low” range for the overall population.

But they are edging closer year by year.

Let me begin by making this point as clearly as possible. There is absolutely nothing worse for the combat effectiveness of a military, than attempting to use recruiting as a social engineering program.

It was reported in this newspaper recently how the US Army has seen a dramatic fall in the number of white recruits, as the Military.com website found that the army fell 10,000 short of its 65,000 enlistment target.

Underpinning this drop was a dramatic decrease in white recruits from 44,042 in 2018, to just 25,070 in 2023, leading to the proportion of white recruits falling from 56.4 per cent of all recruits in 2018, to just 44 per cent. According to the US Census from 2022, around 59 per cent of all US citizens were from white backgrounds. The US military is 17 per cent women, so the recruiting crisis is primarily one among white men.

Clearly, something inside the US Army’s recruitment system is failing, both in terms of targets being drastically missed, and a failure to recruit effectively among the nation’s largest ethnic group.

The UK Armed Forces are in a similar depressing situation. Recruiting targets are consistently not met, but the main priority is not to get more people to join up – it is to get more non-white people and women to join up.

Behind The Decline In White Recruits

Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps officials could not explain why there has been a decline in whites recruited to serve.

“Factors influencing recruitment demographics can be complex and multifaceted,” an Air Force spokesperson told the DCNF.

Spokespeople for each of the services cited various reasons recruitment overall has fallen dramatically in the past three years.

For example, only 23% of 17-to-24-year-old Americans meet the minimum physical and academic standards for joining without a waiver and even fewer — about 10% — express a desire to join, according to an Army press release. The civilian job market may present more attractive opportunities with better benefits, while fewer members of the younger generation are familiar with the military at all, officials say.

Young Americans are also losing trust in institutions in general, including the U.S. military, the Army has said.

In a 2022 survey the Army commissioned, young people cited safety concerns and the stress of Army life as inhibitors to enlisting and also said they didn’t want to steal time away from pursuing other careers.

“Additionally, recognizing that Generation Z represents the newest cohort of service members, it is essential to meet their expectations for an inclusive workplace. As we engage with youth, a fundamental principle remains steadfast – the recruitment of qualified Americans who mirror the society the Department of the Air Force serves,” the Air Force spokesperson said.

Army officials attributed factors including drug use, obesity and a drop in white male representation in the labor market in comments to Military.com. They also blamed Republicans’ partisan attacks against perceived left-wing infiltration of the military, saying an excessive focus on “wokeness” had presented the military as an institution hostile to white people, according to Military.com.

Conservative lawmakers and media highlighting the Army’s preoccupation with diversity could contribute to the problem, some Army officials told Military.com.

“No, the young applicants don’t care about this stuff,” one Army official told Military.com. “There’s a level of prestige in parts of conservative America with service that has degraded.”

The Army did not respond to the DCNF’s requests for comment on the data.

Experts cast doubt on the Pentagon’s talking points about problems with eligibility to serve.

“All of that historically has been a challenge, and it is no different today. Those aren’t the reasons why they’re not getting recruits,” Greenway told the DCNF.

And, they don’t explain why the numbers of white recruits are falling.

“Fewer white Americans see the military as a righteous way to serve their country, but it is readily apparent the military is trying to recruit fewer white Americans in order to meet various policies of race composition in place throughout the Armed Forces. For every diversity objective, there is an imperative to reduce the proportion of white recruits. Since 2018, that’s exactly what has happened,” Thibeau said.

Multi nationals must go to low cost countries to be competitive, almost regardless the local regimes. My career(Ha!) is basically one of trying to stay employed on a low to mid salary, competing again Engineers in China (easy) and now India (bit more difficult)

Having lived in the FSU in the late 90s, many of the author's anecdotes resonate with me. I remember being at a party when the flash batteries of my camera gave out. One of the locals took the batteries out, banged them energetically against the ground, reinserted them in the camera...and the photo-shoot continued.

Russians are undeniably more accustomed to privation and inconvenience than Americans. There's also more hopelessness in Russia than in America, and it's indirectly reflected in the alcoholism rate.
