War. World War.

This one should be a doozy.

Guarengoddamntee ya, it'll take your mind off a stupid mask and $600.00.

Look at that funny cloud, hon.....

I'm downwind of DC, on Md's eastern shore. Pretty much forked.

Bless my wife and some friends, their biggest concern is who the Ravens are playing Sunday. Must be nice.

Seasteading is another possibility that has been offered by VinceCate
in the past. You build or purchase a big floating structure (a
seastead) and then you and your family live on it for as many months
or years as necessary out in the middle of the ocean somewhere. To
keep it self-sustaining, you need to live on fish and seaweed. You
can generate electricity by capturing the power of the waves.

The vast majority of them would be fleeing by foot to other parts of Africa.

** 19-Dec-2020 World View: UK's Boris Johnson 'cancels Christmas' because of new virus variant

UK prime minister Boris Johnson has just given a nationwide speech to
the UK announcing a harsh new Christmas lockdown, requiring many
people to spend Christmas alone, and being described as "cancelling
Christmas."

Just two days ago, Johnson ridiculed the idea of a Christmas lockdown,
but says that the U-turn is required because scientists in the last
day have confirmed that the virus has mutated into a variant that is
spreading 70% faster than the previous variant. The new variant is
not more lethal, but it spreads much faster.

The new variant has been spreading rapidly in London and in eastern
England. The new lockdown is being imposed to prevent people from
carrying the new variant to other regions of England, in the hope of
slowing the spread of the new variant.

According to Johnson, they had been puzzled about why the virus had
been spreading more rapidly in eastern UK, and the confirmation of the
new variant solved the puzzle.

There are also numerous restrictions and lockdowns being announced
elsewhere, including Italy, France, Sweden, and Australia.

I'd still rather be in the United States than Africa after a nuclear war. We've got the wealth and the resources to rebuild, even if many people die from the aftermath. When it comes to Africa, they're the main obstacle to eradicating extreme poverty. Over the last 30 years, the number has actually gone up (even in it's fallen in percentage). For some nations, the only reason they're not undergoing mass famine is foreign aid from the West. There won't be any aid after the war and they'll end up being screwed.

I've watched various prepper shows, at least back when I found them interesting. One of the first things I noticed was how expensive all of this was, ranging from tens of thousands to even hundreds of thousands of dollars. Most people don't have those kinds of resources available. There are things you can do on a budget, but even this will depend on where you live.

During the false alarm in Hawaii back in 2017, it amazed me just how clueless people were when it came to survival. Most rushed outside to their cars trying to get away. No way in hell are you getting out of the city, especially when you have, at most, thirty minutes before the bombs arrive.

That looks extremely expensive and dangerous. Hurricanes destroy mainland cities and towns, how will someone on a floating platform fare? You would be better off buying a disused coast guard platform or flak gun outpost from WW2 and staying put. Eating seaweed and fish forever out on the open sea would drive most people insane. Not to mention sunstroke and drowning in a storm. This concept has been a round for over a decade and it hasn't taken off. Has anyone done this successfully? No. There is a reason why.

There are easier ways to survive. Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy a small island or live on a sailboat? Life after WW 3 will be horrible, but this type of house would make things impossible.
