What's your story on how you got to that point? I'm curious.

It's just been a gradual evolution of how I felt most of my life. I was a weak GOP as my father raised me after my mother's death, and he was a fanatic GOP, but I felt that anyone who would want to be POTUS should be disqualified on the grounds of insanity (joke I made in Social Science class at school). However, the GOP is prolife, so I stuck with them even as I disagreed with most other social positions of theirs. Finally, as I grew more concerned with AGW after fracking ended my Peak Oil concerns and the GOP became Denialist, that was just the straw that broke the camel's back and I became an Independent. I rejoined the GOP in 2016 just to vote for Kasich against Trump in the Primary, but ended up voting for the guy with the dead fox on his head in both 2016 and 2020 (as an Independent...although I tried to vote for GOP to support a library levy that turned out not even to be on the ballot in Twinsburg (long story)).

Who cares about it at this point? Just do your best to lead a local life and have impact there. The Founders at least would be proud of that. The rest will take care of itself - these parasites can only last as long as the money spigot does, and while that can be a little while longer, it won't be long.

I honestly don't know what to think anymore. I distrust my government and its media lackeys so much that I wouldn't be surprised if the inevitable Chinese counterclaims are true. Then again, the CCP is insane enough to do what it's being accused of doing, too. Everybody on all sides is just so rotten.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't see this upcoming war as being a battle of good versus evil. Rather, I see it as a battle between competing evils. I'm already in the same mood that the 1920s expatriates were in. Because I'm asking myself the same question as they did: "What the*expiative deleted* went wrong?"

On a side note, I think a better candidate for the Democrat parallel to Mike Pompeo is Hillary Clinton.

Shit's getting real, guys. Biden is not just under pressure to investigate the origins of COVID-19, but also to declassify all information related to those origins. How strong is this pressure? The bill which demanded both the investigation and the declassification was passed in the Senate unanimously.

If Biden bullshits on this, I suspect that this could result in impeachment. And he absolutely would deserve it. Of course, that would only happen if Democrats are willing to cross the bench in the House, and that may not happen because it seems these days most Democrats would rather let Biden get away with it just to stick it to the other side.

Meanwhile, the CCP is already dismissing the investigation before it's even begun. The Chinese embassy in Washington has released a statement implying that the investigation is already compromised from the outset because of how politicized the issue itself has become. Don't be surprised if the CCP uses that as a justification to not allow investigators into Wuhan.

So you think what? That China's foreign ministry was right in March
of last year when they accused the US army of secretly planting the
virus in Wuhan? What do you mean when you say that the US is the
culprit for the Wuhan Coronavirus?

You already know the list. The Chinese Communists have arrested,
beaten and enslaved millions of Kazakhs and Uighurs, they've
imprisoned and tortured Buddhists and Christians for their beliefs,
they've clamped down on Hong Kong in violation of their commitments,
etc., etc. They're committing the most horrific war crimes since the
1930s.

If you're willing to side with the Chinese Communists on an issue like
this, then you must really hate the United States. I guess this sort
of thing is becoming increasingly common, with schoolteachers who hate
America teaching Critical Race Theory.

What I was actually looking for was your opinion of Antony Blinken,
whose policies are very similar to Pompeo's. Do you consider Blinken
to be a notorious war-mongering neocon as well?

I do find Blinken to be a warmonger when it comes to Russia, yes. But even then he's still better than Pompeo so far.

You've got to be kidding, right? if you really believe this then I suggest you're in need of some serious help or medication. You can blame the US for a bunch of stuff, but to ignore all the available evidence and blame the US for Covid 19 is just insane.

I've not found Blinken to be a warmonger and I don't think that Pompeo was one either. In fact, the Trump presidency was the fist one in decades where the US didn't get involved in new wars and started to disengage from the one already existing. It's too early to tell what a Biden administration is going to do, but there is already a confirmation that troops will (finally!) leave Afghanistan which is promising.

You may have given into your bitterness and disillusionment too much and gone over to the other side. The important thing in politics is to not take it too personally because they're all liars and scoundrels and expecting otherwise is foolish. And while the US certainly isn't perfect, it's still better than the majority of the world and certainly better than the likes of China and Russia.
