China Plays the Anti-Nuke Card

Post by Reality Check »

China has apparently decided how it is going to play the Korea crisis card.

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/04/14/world ... d=all&_r=0

John Kerry announced that the U.S. and China are going to "form a partnership" and work together to bring peace and stability to the world by eliminating nuclear weapons ( from North Korea only ? ).

China has yet to weigh in on exactly what that means.

We also do not know what China has ask for, or will ask for, in return for their help in doing what they want to do anyway.

The art of diplomacy is letting the other-side have your way, With Kerry negotiating with China, China is negotiating with an intellectually unarmed opponent, but the potential wins for China from this "negotiation" are endless.

China will play the peace maker and continue to build it's nuclear arsenal, already the third largest in the world, while the U.S. disarms, and Japan, Australia, Vietnam and Indonesia have not even started to arm themselves against the Chinese nuclear threat.

Look for China obtaining treaty promises from the U.S. to not attack North Korea and for the U.S. pulling all forces out of South Korea as part of this "partnership".

China may even seek conventional arms disarmament of both North and South Korea in addition to a treaty forbidding foreign troops on Korean soil.

Keeping Japan and others in Asia from building nuclear arms is China's number one objective. Getting the United States out of South Korea and making South Korea a neutral party, by Treaty, in any future conflict between China and any other countries is a close second.

Obama on the other hand just wants to continue slashing the U.S. military to make the annual budget deficits appear smaller while at the same time permanently downsizing the U.S. Nuclear deterrent to the point a nuclear war with China would be a fair fight for China.

A war in Korea would put a crimp in Obama's plans, so what ever China wants, Obama will give them, in hopes of delaying a politically inconvenient war in Asia.

The game for China is economic and territorial expansion in Asia, the game for Obama is redistribution of wealth in the United States.

Neither party intends to let anything get in the way of obtaining their goals, so they may be able to negotiate a deal that meets the goals of both the Obama administration and also the new leaders in China.
