The question is, will unintended consequences of the western economic threats, and the Russian economic actions, combined, push the world into the world wide depression that Russia can afford only slightly more than the west, but the western leaders fear most.

Putin wants more concessions from the west, and he will get them, but it may be too late to avoid a worldwide depression.
