Kiev government announces firefights in East Ukraine

Conflicting reports from Ukraine indicate firefights may have occurred at check points established by pro-Russian protestors/fighters in Eastern Ukraine.

Independent news media indicates, or indicated at one point Sunday, fighting had not reached town centers yet.

Early reports from Kiev were vague and implied military operations by Kiev were complete and Kiev cleared the towns of what Kiev is calling "terrorists".

Russia has been silent since warning Kiev on Saturday not to use military force against Russian speaking Ukrainian "protestors" in Eastern Ukraine.
