While it is technically accurate to say the Administration has announced "no boots on the ground", this is forced by the Iraqi government, not as a desirable "end" by the Obama Administration. Iraq has tens of thousands of Iranian boots on the ground, and they don't want Americans mixing with them - at least the Iranian government does not. And Baghdad takes orders from Tehran, not Washington. This was a serious problem since at least 2005, there was a damned Iranian general who kept flying in and out of Baghdad, and every time he made a trip, the US would catch hell a day or so later. If we'd caught him, he'd have been dead, but we never could catch him because the various Iraqi governments all had one thing in common, they were all Shia led and the Shia with power want nothing more than to be a subsidiary state of Iran.

Personally, I think the Iranians will only give up their sole possession of "boots" when ISIS pulls into Baghdad. But not before, because they are having too much fun killing and alienating the Sunni's, and to a much lessor extent the Kurd's, but their hate is primarily directed at the Sunni's.

Obama has tried to put a positive face on the constant Iraqi refusals to have US or NATO troops in the fight, but that's all it is, a front. The fact is, Baghdad says no, and that's all there is to it.

I'll swear I saw that repeated again last week, probably in the Kuwait news. But it's a constant repetition of the same thing. Anyhow, can't find it. But that's four months of repeating the same statement, no foreign troops in Iraq - actually meaning no US troops that can see what they are doing on the battle front and behind the lines.

They've said it repeatedly and often, of course it's a lie, and was a lie from day one, as their own press has stated.

What they KNOW from experience is that the US will not turn a blind eye to murder of Sunni or Kurdish villages. And that's why they don't want the US in there.

However, the troops directing drones, etc, aren't taking attacks lying down.

Here, this one will blow your mind. The news out of the MidEast is just surreal.

I don't get it. Why are some people so dead set against given Prince Phillip a knighthood?
