Re: Generational Dynamics World View News
Bob, would you rather live in an all white neighborhood or an all black neighborhood?
Case closed.
When you don't answer, or distract again, we'll know for sure that you are the liar everyone knows you are.
You talk about groups and then when groups have verifiable, quantifiable characteristics, you talk about exceptions. Critical thinkers know those childish scams every time they come up. Only stupid people try to lie to others that are smarter than they are.

Lies
Back in the 1960s, my parents bought a summer home on a lake front. I have since come to inherit it, winterize it, and adapt it to my special needs when I became handicapped. It has a nice swing with a superlative view of the lake. Thus, I have no reason or desire to move. Thus your question is at one level irrelevant.
I have recently been given a reason to dislike a drug gang, starting from when the lawyer associated with them had a friend declared legally dead so he could steal her inheritance. The gang has been harassing her ever since. (His declaring her dead got him in deep do do, and he is trying to intimidate her into backing down.) As a result, I don’t like drug gangs. I prefer a justice based culture to a criminal one. That this gang is mostly white makes no difference. I just don’t want to deal with them. I assume when you are describing an all black neighborhood you implying a place with lots of criminal drug gangs. I wouldn’t want to live in such a place. This has less to do with the color of people’s skins than with the supposed assumption of criminal and drug activity. Solid people, regardless of race, I suspect would feel similarly. The well educated well employed folk of all races who saved during their working careers prefer to go to a neighborhood without a criminal bias.
Now you have often accused me of lying without identifying the lie or providing what you think the truth is. This I consider a childish scam. A bit ago I wrote a note responding to John. Where are the lies? I consider Trump important. There has long been a struggle between prejudice and equality in America. Many points. Disagree and give reasons. I know we have very different perspectives. I expect you to have strange opinions. But randomly calling someone who disagrees with you a liar without identifying the lie is pushing it. Where do you see a lie in the note to John? Can you respond to me with logic and fact rather than insult and hate?
It is easy enough to pin your lies. You call yourself christian while showing hate and lacking charity. Why should I bother with you?

Where's ClarkMod? This thread is getting tedious and probably should be moved to the appropriate section. Please.

Perspectives...
Cool Breeze
I should add that I don't consider John or most other people posting here liars. It is possible to have different perspectives, worldviews, opinions quite sincerely. To disagree and to call someone a liar is a quite different thing. Most stuff fits under the different opinion category.
I do believe you incapable of comprehending what I say. On religion I have immersed in Catholicism, Born Again, Neo Wiccan, Tao and parapsychology. In history I try to mix turnings, civilizations, and ages. I imagine it is hard to follow. As in our last exchange, the answer to a seemingly simple question can rapidly become more nuanced. We just operate at a different level.
But I will respond when addressed by name in the thread where I am addressed. If you were to decide not to address me, it might be for the best.

So you are Wiccan (witch) who dabbles in Taoism, live on a lake in an isolated enclave in a house your parents gave you, and you think you know how the average American lives?Bob Butler wrote: Fri Sep 09, 2022 9:55 pm Cool Breeze

You are a walking stereotype of the clueless liberal.
P.S. I'm Polynesian Hawaiian (mixed ethnicity, like most Hawaiians), so have fun calling me a white supremacist.

Re: Perspectives...
I did seriously get involved in several religious efforts, but most were long ago and the last was parapsychology. (Do you want to hear my quantum theory of psi?) The lake home was inherited, not a gift. Dad picked up every stock option he could from AT&T back in the day, so the inheritance got a bit big eventually, but that only hit after I retired. Before that I lived in my own place, one I now rent out. My father was a New England Telephone foreman, so I think I grew up in a pretty regular suburban environment. My first real job was as a Bell System janitor. (I cleaned, among other places, a building on the site of the Pilgrim’s first fort in Plymouth.) My university was in the middle of urban Boston, bordering black Roxbury. I did figure out that you have to pay your dues, to pursue an education that would lead into a real job. I stepped into a professional career as an engineer. My professional career included stays in Great Falls Montana, Vandenberg California, Baltimore, Atlanta, San Fransisco and Colorado Springs. Diverse enough, if slanted towards high tech and military areas.Guest wrote: Fri Sep 09, 2022 10:25 pmSo you are Wiccan (witch) who dabbles in Taoism, live on a lake in an isolated enclave in a house your parents gave you, and you think you know how the average American lives?Bob Butler wrote: Fri Sep 09, 2022 9:55 pm Cool Breeze

Diverse, yes. Lacking a lot of pure rural experience, perhaps. Extraordinary, no. How does diversity, education and professionalism make one clueless? I would think that would rise from a single limited experience.

Nitpick. The description was ‘often’, not ‘all’ or ‘almost all’. I was happy to see comments based on reason and fact, rather than insult and hate. Some will declare themselves belonging to a cult of love and charity and behave the opposite. Enough of that. The question was which faction was supporting charity and love, in this case sanctuary cities. I think it is rather obvious.
I think the point you are trying to make here is that sanctuary cities are showing "love" by allowing illegal immigrants to stay there without fear of deportation.
So, if your definition of "love" is to force the taxpayers of your city to pay for the services that these people have in no-way earned, I disagree with you what "love" is.
If people want to donate to help them out, till they can get on their feet, that's one thing. But the whole point is that a large portion of illegal immigrants come here to live idly on the public dole.
Re: Justice and Mercy
Here is a perfect example of the liberal double standard.Bob Butler wrote: Wed Sep 07, 2022 11:50 am Criminals in high places: Nixon, Agnew, Trump. Justice. Equal treatment under law for all. If you run on locking Hillary up for mishandling e-mails, one should not steal a bunch of classified documents. I suspect future criminals in chief to run hard into scrutiny and justice.
I agree that Nixon and Agnew did illegal things. I think that Trump needs a day in court, and based on what I have read, he is probably guilty too.
BUT also guilty of gross misdeeds are Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, and Joe Biden. The Clinton's scam is the "Clinton Foundation" which is a nice way of funneling "contributions" to your family. Biden has been peddling influence since he became a senator in the 1970s. The Hunter Laptop is a treasure trove of validated information on how corrupt the Bidens are.
The thing is that BOTH EXTREMES have plenty of crooks. So yeah, I am for equal treatment for all. NOT JUST ONE SIDE. They should all suffer the consequences.
Re: Justice and Mercy
Agreed. Also agree with John's recent post. I have previously voiced extreme disdain and concern regarding comments people make on the board concerning different ethnicities.Bob Butler wrote: Wed Sep 07, 2022 11:50 am
Black Lives Matter. There was a practice of applying improperly the mechanisms of justice against minorities. Justice should be equal.
All you can tell about a person by looking at them is what they look like. That's it. Judgements based on appearance are fundamentally flawed. Every person deserves to be judged as in individual based on their actions.
