I doubt it will break out. China's economy is a mess. They need the remnants of globalism, one of the few areas that is still working. They need the oil, and don't have a navy capable of defending it in the Indian Ocean. Putin's Ukraine war has let them see what would happen. China has made a lot of enemies, most of whom have started to work together.

Who knows how desperate Xi will get, though. If you have nothing left to do except something stupid...
This is pretty good for Bob. Mostly accurate and succinct.
That's why it doesn't seem imminent.

But this crazy world is changing so fast, and they've already prepared sufficiently for a conflict.
They'll push harder and be more brazen henceforth until a resolution is come about either through mutual destruction or themselves gaining the upper hand. They have lots of cards up their sleeves to play when the time comes. We've been asleep at the wheel distracted with false existential threats and maniacal social movements. No wonder we seem weak
Why were my comments again censored or moved? They are pertinent to this discussion. But they point out that the constant doubling and tripling down, when again the prediction doesn't come true, isn't the best to instill confidence. I think that might be why most leave the site after a while.

They're military abilities are not tested...
Chinese special forces (in state of the art body armor, using laser sights, and visor sunglasses) ran away every time they encountered Sudanese rebels in the Sudan a few months ago. The PLA's special forces==their best-- are cowards.

Of the 25 counties with the most total homicides in 2018-2021 according to the CDC, all 25 voted for Biden. Homicide victimization rates are highest in the blackest counties.

Yes. What I call the 'ghetto mindset' holds that in order to get ahead you have to be a drug pusher, a mother expert at manipulating the welfare system, or a sports star. One result is a police force ready to murder blacks.

How many blacks are murdered by the Police? How many blacks and murdered by other blacks?

As there are lots of turf wars in the drug trade, I would guess blacks murder each other quite frequently, likely lots more than police murder blacks. However, in many cities the elected officials have problems quelling police excessive violence. At best, they see trouble and want to be judge, jury and executioner to relieve it. At worst, they act on their prejudice. If you see all the regions troubles on a daily basis, that's what happens.

** 29-Nov-2023 World View: Elon Musk on AGI (AI)

Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) is
what I and others used to call the
Singularity, the point where computers
would be smarter than humans. In 2004,
I wrote an article where I described the
"intelligent computer" algorithm, and
predicted that the Singularity would
occur around 2030. That prediction was
apparently spot on.

I reposted that article in 2015:

** Artificial Intelligence and the Singularity by 2030
** http://www.generationaldynamics.com/pg/ ... 151228.htm

Today, in an interview on CNBC, Elon
Musk spoke at length about the future of
AI, and particularly when the point of
AGI would be reached.

He said that in about three years,
computers will be as intelligent as an
average human, and said that soon after
that computers would be smarter than the
smartest human.

I have a great deal of respect for Elon
Musk's opinion on technical matters, and
if he thinks AGI will be reached about
2027, that should be taken seriously.

In retrospect bringing China in from the cold could well turn out to be he worst foreign policy decision of all time.

He was championing giving Ukraine to Russia last year as well.

If anyone wants a Kissinger keepsake, we have hundreds of thousands of them lying around over here. The only problem is they may well blow your arm off when you pick them up.

Comments on the Washington Post are scathing... as they should be.

He has said that self driving cars would happen each of the last 6 years, as well.

Pay no attention to that, though. The singularity will happen soon! LOL

So that you can defend yourself, however, with a prediction "that is apparently spot on" what do you mean exactly when you say that computers will be smarter or more intelligent than human person X?
