Let's not provoke the BB. He's an irrational, intolerant bigot of the extreme side of Liberalism. Both the Left and Right have extremists. BB is a sick old man, just leave him alone. He doesn't represent anything but the fringe who everyone is done with. Even making fun of those deplorable reprobates isn't worth it. They only know cheap tactics and name calling.Guest wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2024 12:21 amhttps://lawenforcementtoday.com/seattle ... e-officersUnconstitutional? Re: Seattle police politics
The Seattle police force is half-manned and half the remaing police officers are over 50 and most are now filing for retirement. No one wants to be the next viral cop video. The cops I know are selling their houses, taking their pensions, and moving to Montana or Idaho with their families, far away from diversity. At least the minorities in Seattle will be safe from rogue cops... Safe from other minorities, not so much.Bob Butler wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2024 7:59 amSeattle was one place where in response to the George Floyd killing and protests, the police responded militantly. The government tried to rein them in. Apparently it is still going on. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Fl ... in_SeattleWiki wrote:Following a large and peaceful demonstration on June 3, the City of Seattle announced several changes to its policing protocols, including restrictions on badge coverings for officers.
The Seattle City council voted unanimously on June 15 to demilitarize the police department by banning the purchase and use of crowd control weapons including tear gas, pepper spray, flashbang grenades and rubber bullets. The city council also voted to prohibit the use of "choke holds" by Seattle Police. On July 24, in response to a request the U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. District Judge James Robart issued a temporary restraining order, blocking the law from taking effect.
City Attorney Pete Holmes announced that the city would withdraw its request to lift a federal consent decree that had been imposed following a U.S. Department of Justice investigation in 2012.The city government also announced a 30-day ban on the use of tear gas by police on protesters in response to outcry from Capitol Hill residents who had been affected by its use. The ban did not apply to SWAT and other special officers.
The Seattle Public Schools voted on June 24 to terminate contracts with the local police departments.
At a guess, the police is still at odds with the government, which is resulting in the manpower shortage. Bringing in more minorities might actually help. Not an ideal situation, but use of excessive force by police against minorities was a problem at the time. Not as much lately, but it is apparently lingering politically.
Seattle (SEA-TAC) is where I grew up, and Seattle has because a crime-ridden, filthy hellscape. Crime and homelessnes are off the charts. Tacoma is much worse. It wasn't like that in the 80s and 90s.
And this is Microsoft's and Amazon's HQ?

Seattle Crime Rate
I did a quick check of the Seattle crime rate. Rather than off the charts, the chart is rather flat. You can see the George Floyd bump during the Trump years easily enough. It is the most significant feature in the chart. Still, the line seems to bounce around the same level. There is no big change.Guest wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2024 11:36 amSeattle (SEA-TAC) is where I grew up, and Seattle has because a crime-ridden, filthy hellscape. Crime and homelessnes are off the charts. I bet you believe that "crime is at a 50-year low".
Next you will be quoting Russian and North Korean government stats...

One good source nowadays is WalMart or any chain having problems with organized retail crime, which is pretty much all of them. For the most part, they are shuttering stores in blue states where crime is out of control and opening new stores in red states.Bob Butler wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2024 11:59 amI did a quick check of the Seattle crime rate. There are literally dozens of news articles in the past 2 years that have discussed this. In many of these articles, it is noted that in the blue states, store employees are told to let the thieves walk out without contacting law enforcement. Also, law abiding citizens are fleeing blue states because of crime. Having fewer law abiding citizens residing in a state like New York will mean fewer potential crime victims (and fewer law abiding shoppers), I suppose. In 2023, Walmart closed 24 stores across 14 states and Washington, D.C. That's significantly more than the 15 store closings the retail giant had planned. The chain attributes the closings in part to shoplifting and organized retail crime.
Walmart is shuttering 8 US locations in 2024. See the list.
California:
2121 Imperial Ave. in San Diego
605 Fletcher Parkway in El Cajon
2753 E. Eastland Center Dr. in West Covina
4080 Douglas Blvd in Granite Bay (Neighborhood Market)
40580 Albrae St. in Fremont
Maryland:
1238 Putty Hill Ave in Towson
Ohio:
3579 S. High St. in Columbus
Wisconsin:
7025 W Main St. in Milwaukee (Neighborhood Market)
The company plans to open or begin construction on 14 new locations this year.
Here are the confirmed openings:
Texas;
Preston Road in Celina (Dallas area)
16600 FM 423 in Frisco (Dallas area)
McKinney Street in Melissa (Dallas area)
8927 Fry Road in Cypress (Houston area)
Georgia:
Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Atlanta (Neighborhood Market)
Florida:
U.S. Highway 98 East in Santa Rosa Beach (Neighborhood Market)

While the periphery breaks down rather slowly at first, the capital cities of the hegemon should collapse suddenly and violently.

Leaded Gas and Crime Rates
Of course. No source. If conservatives don’t like real world data, they make something up. You can’t take them seriously.Guest wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2024 12:14 pm

I looked up the crime rate and if you squint at the chart, we are at a 50 year low. Barely. Sorta.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_in_ ... States.svg
I don’t know if you are aware of the link between the crime rate and lead additives in gasoline? It is proposed that chronic lead exposure led to violence and crime. This is supported by the crime rate going up when lead was added to gas, and dropping when it was removed, as well as medical opinions. Lots of other factors. The auto industry is trying to suppress the theory as it reflects poorly on them. Still, looking at the 50 year crime history, the huge bump in crime corresponding to leaded gas is obvious. We are just now coming down from that peak, a peak which makes the Trump bump look small. The bump is about 50 years. Perhaps it has little to do with economics, immigration or minorities. It might reflect another issue entirely.

Blue State Population Decrease
I did a Google search on 'blue state population decrease' and can confirm that the dozens of articles exist. If curious, repeat the search.Higgenbotham wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2024 12:32 pmOne good source nowadays is WalMart or any chain having problems with organized retail crime, which is pretty much all of them. I said "must be" because I haven't drunk any, therefore I don't know with certainty. But I know which way I'd bet.Bob Butler wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2024 12:09 amSee? MAGA supporters can convince themselves of anything.
On another note, you are obviously obsessed with the word "MAGA." I'm pretty realistic, more conservative than some, more liberal than many, yet I don't have a clear grasp of what a "MAGA" is. Would you be good enough to tell us, definitively ,what you mean by "MAGA?"
