When will war between the US and China breakout? Timeline?
I doubt it will break out. China's economy is a mess. They need the remnants of globalism, one of the few areas that is still working. They need the oil, and don't have a navy capable of defending it in the Indian Ocean. Putin's Ukraine war has let them see what would happen. China has made a lot of enemies, most of whom have started to work together.
Who knows how desperate Xi will get, though. If you have nothing left to do except something stupid...
This is pretty good for Bob. Mostly accurate and succinct.
That's why it doesn't seem imminent.
But this crazy world is changing so fast, and they've already prepared sufficiently for a conflict.
They'll push harder and be more brazen henceforth until a resolution is come about either through mutual destruction or themselves gaining the upper hand. They have lots of cards up their sleeves to play when the time comes. We've been asleep at the wheel distracted with false existential threats and maniacal social movements. No wonder we seem weak
Everything has been in place to create the conditions for China to go over the edge for a couple of years now. It could happen anytime, and is the "end-game" option for the CCP.
Somehow China weathered the Evergrande collapse. Now, the much larger development firm CountryGarden (which is about 4 times the size of Evergrande) is about to go under. On top of that, the number one resource for local governments - selling land to developers, is drying up as a result of these failures. Economically, the CCP is losing it.
In the area of warfare, I believe they are trying to incorporate as many of the "lessons learned" from the Ukraine war (which is the modern equivalent of the pre-WW1 Balkan wars or the pre-WW2 Spanish civil war). They could be building a large drone based attack force for which there is insufficient defense.
But more than anything else, I think it will be driven by an economic crisis. Which, BTW, we are certainly not immune to at this point either.
